7. Connection of the stove to the chimney

The stove can be connected directly to the chimney
(outlet at the rear). The diameter of the connection
pipe at the stove is 150mm, which must correspond
with the diameter of the outlet pipe.
We guarantee that the product will work well, provided
that the chimney draught is between 8 and 20 Pa.
It is only possible to measure the chimney draught
while the device is burning.
If the draught is too strong a draught regulator must
be fitted.
The following steps can be taken if the chimney
draught is too weak:
-
Lengthen the chimney
-
Improve the chimney isolation to ensure
that the flue gas does not cool
excessively
-
Improve the air inlet in the area where
the device has been installed
-
Improve the density of the chimney

7.1. Chimney Tips

Many of the problems experienced with stoves can be traced back to poor chimneys. Please do keep in
mind that the recommendations given are only for informational purposes and are not binding for us in any
manner whatsoever. It is an unfortunate fact that there are numerous unknown factors that can play
decisive roles in the good operation of a combination chimney device. If you are unsure, please ask a
specialist for advice. Chimneys used to be completely compatible with old stoves, but new models can
cause problems. The reason for this is that stoves of 30 years ago provided much poorer levels of
performance than the current generation of stoves, which are much more economical.
Tips:
-
Preference must be given to round ducts (less friction)
-
The diameter of the chimney must never be smaller than that of the device, with the exception
of very long chimneys where narrower sections are sometimes necessary
-
The mouth of the chimney must be free of obstructions
-
The chimney must be as vertical as possible with a minimum of arches
-
The chimney must not conduct any false air. Make sure that the chimney drawers and cleaning
openings in the basement and on the roof are closed!
-
The chimney must not have excessive connecting points as this would limit upwards pressure.
If you are unsure, consult a local specialist!
-
The chimney connections of different hearths must not be opposite to each other or on the
same height as this may limit the ability to conduct combustion gasses. Two connection points
of smoke outlet pipes must be at least 30 cm away from each other in an upwards direction.
National legislation must be adhered to concerning the mouth of the chimney. NBN 61-001
applies to Belgium. Below are a few regulations taken from these norms relating to the mouth of
a chimney:
