Installation Between Jack Plate and Transom

ITEM(S) NEEDED
NOTICE:
The Outboard doesn't have to be
completely removed. Remove the two mounting
bolts from one side and loosen the mounting bolts
on the opposite side. Tilt the Outboard motor for
the installation steps below. Repeat for opposite
side to complete installation.
a. Support the Outboard and remove the hardware
that attaches the Jack Plate to the boat Transom.
Determine if the Adapter Bracket purchased is
installed on the Port or Starboard side.
b. Take the Elbow Bracket (Item #2 or Item #4) and
the Shim Bracket (Item #10) if needed, and apply
marine grade silicon to the transom side mounting
holes of both brackets. The Brackets selected will
be dependent on a Port or Starboard mount for each
individual installation.

c. Install the Elbow Bracket and Shim Plate between
the Jack Plate and the Transom orientated to the
Port or Starboard side. Use the hardware that was
already on the boat to install the Elbow Bracket and
Shim. Reinstall the mounting hardware loosely. The
hardware should pass through the Jack Plate, the
Talon Mounting Bracket, and the Transom of the boat.
d. Once the Elbow Bracket and Shim Bracket are
positioned, tighten and torque the mounting
hardware to the boat and/or outboard manufacturer's
specifications. Continue to the "Completing the
Installation" section of these instructions.
