Problem
The machine does not switch on.

Possible Causes

The machine is not connected to the elec-
tric network.
No water in the tank.
This is the fi rst start-up or the machine is
overheated.
The fi lter holder is not inserted for pre-
heating (chapter 7).
The cups are cold.
The milk is not suitable: powdered milk,
low-fat milk.
Dirty Pannarello.
No water in the tank.
There is too little coff ee in the fi lter holder. Add coff ee (chapter 7).
The grind is too coarse.
Coff ee is old or not suitable.
The pod is old or not suitable.
Missing component in the fi lter holder.
No water.
The grind is too fi ne.
Coff ee tamped in the fi lter holder.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter
holder.
The machine has limescale build-up.
The fi lter in the fi lter holder is clogged.
Not suitable pod.
The fi lter holder is not correctly inserted
in the brew unit.
The upper rim of the fi lter holder is dirty. Clean the rim of the fi lter holder.
Pod inserted incorrectly.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter
holder.
The water knob (3) is open.
Descale the machine.
Safety time-out.
Solution
Connect the machine to the electric network.
Fill the tank up with water and prime the circuit
(section 4.6).
Make sure the tank is full and fully inserted and
lower the temperature as described in section
10.1.
Preheat the fi lter holder.
Preheat the cups with hot water.
Use whole milk.
Clean the Pannarello as described in chap. 11.
Fill the tank up with water and prime the circuit
(section 4.6).
Use a diff erent blend (chapter 8).
Use a diff erent blend (chap. 8).
Change the pod.
Make sure that all the components are present
and properly installed.
Fill the tank up with water and prime the circuit
(section 4.6).
Use a diff erent blend (chapter 8).
Shake the ground coff ee.
