4 Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does
not turn it on and off. Any power tool that can-
not be controlled with the switch is dangerous and
must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source
and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable,
from the power tool before making any adjust-
ments, changing accessories, or storing pow-
er tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of chil-
dren and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to operate
the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the
hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check
for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that
may affect the power tool's operation. If dam-
aged, have the power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained
power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits
etc. in accordance with these instructions,
taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed. Use of the power
tool for operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for
safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected
situations.
5. Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power
tool is maintained.
m WARNING! This electric tool generates an elec-
tromagnetic field during operation. This field can im-
pair active or passive medical implants under certain
conditions. In order to prevent the risk of serious or
deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with
medical implants consult with their physician and the
manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating
the electric tool.
Safety instructions for table-top grinding ma-
chines
a) Do not use damaged tool inserts. Check tool
attachments such as grinding discs for chip-
ping and cracks before each use. Once you
have checked and used the tool attachment,
ensure that you and all other persons in the vi-
cinity remain outside the plane of the rotating
tool attachment and allow the device to run for
1 min. at the maximum speed.
Damaged tool attachments usually break during
this test period.
b) The permissible rotational speed for tool at-
tachments must be at least as high as the max-
imum speed cited on the electric tool. Acces-
sories that rotate faster than permitted can break
and fly off at high speed.
c) Never grind on the side surfaces of the grind-
ing disc. Grinding on the side surfaces can cause
the grinding disc to break and fall apart.
Special safety instructions
1.
Always wear safety goggles, safety gloves and
ear-protectors on grinding, brushing and cutting
jobs.
2.
Check that the speed marked on the grinding
wheel is the same as or higher than the grinderʼs
rated speed.
3.
Make sure that the dimensions of the grinding
wheel are suitable for the grinder.
4.
It is essential to store and handle grinding wheels
in accordance with the manufacturerʼs instruc-
tions.
5.
Each time before using a grinding wheel, check
it carefully. Never use a grinding wheel which is
broken, cracked or damaged in any other way.
6.
Make sure that the grinding tools are mounted in
accordance to the Manufactors instructions.
7.
If backing layers are supplied with or stipulated
for the grinding wheels, make sure they are used.
8.
Before beginning with your work, make sure that
the grinding wheel is correctly mounted and se-
cured. Allow the tool to run in a safe position for 5
minutes in idle mode. Stop the tool immediately if
notable vibrations develop or if you discover any
defects. In this case, examine the machine to find
the cause of the trouble.
9.
Never use the grinder without the supplied hood
guard.
10. Never use a separate reducer sleeve or adapter
to mount grinding wheels with too large a hole.
11. Make sure that no danger results from any sparks
produced during use, e.g. injury to persons or ig-
nition of flammable substances.
12. Always wear safety goggles and ear-protectors.
Use other personal safety items such as gloves,
an apron and a helmet wherever necessary.
13. Please note that the workpiece becomes hot dur-
ing use.
Caution! Risk of burns!
Allow the workpiece to cool. Some materials become
glowing hot when subjected to grinding. On lengthy
jobs, interrupt your work and allow the workpiece to
cool.
14. Use no coolant or the like. The wet-and-dry
grinder is a multi-function tool for the rough and
precision grinding of metals, plastics and other
materials using a selection of grinding wheels.
The machine must only be used for its intended
purpose!
