SERVICING
10. From the top of the rod seal block, remove the O-ring (fig.
23, item 16) and back up ring (17). From the interior of
the block, remove the wiper (18), backup ring (19), and
rod seal (20). Inspect wear ring (21, still located inside the
block). Unless there is obvious damage the wear ring (21)
does not need to be replaced.
Remove these parts very carefully. Do not scratch
any metal surface of the rod seal block.
Attention
11. Replace all parts with new parts (16-20) from the repair kit.
12. Clamp the piston nut (fig. 24, item 22) in a bench vise.
Using a wrench on the flats (23) of the piston, remove the
piston nut (22).
13. Remove the washer (24) and piston head assembly (25).
14. From the outside of the piston head assembly (25), remove
the wear ring (26), piston seal (27) and back up rings (28).
15. From the interior of the piston head assembly (25), remove
the O-ring (29) and back up rings (30).
Remove these parts very carefully. Do not scratch
any metal surface of the piston head.
Attention
16. Replace all parts with new parts (22 and 26-30) from the
repair kit.

REASSEMBLING THE HYDRAULIC MOTOR
1. Reinstall the piston head assembly (25) and washer (24)
onto the piston.
2. Clamp the piston nut (22) into a bench vise.
The piston nut is single use (22). Be careful not to
damage it in the vise.
Attention
3. With a wrench on the flats of the piston (23), thread the
piston into the nut. Torque to 800 ft.-lbs.
4. Install the cylinder (fig. 22, item 13) back onto the rod seal
block (14). Gently tap into place with a rubber mallet until
flush. Coat the inside of the cylinder with hydraulic oil.
5. Install the piston assembly (15) into the cylinder and down
into the rod seal block. Turn upside down so that the
piston assembly rests on a hard surface. Using a rubber
mallet, gently tap on the rod seal block until the piston is
seated inside the cylinder and rod seal block.
6. Install the cylinder cap (12) onto the cylinder (13). Gently
tap into place using a rubber mallet until flush with the
cylinder.
7. Reinstall the three long bolts (11) through the cylinder cap
(12) and down to the rod seal block (14). Torque the bolts
to 85 ft.-lbs.
8. Replace the hydraulic motor assembly (fig. 21, item 10)
back into position over the fluid section. Secure with the
four bolts (9) and washers (8). Torque to 45 ft.-lbs.
9. Reattach the hydraulic hoses (6, 7) onto the elbow fittings
on the hydraulic motor. Make sure each hose is attached
to its proper fitting.
10. Slide the coupler sleeve (fig. 20, item 2) and O-ring (3) back
up over the hydraulic motor piston. Make sure the coupler
sleeve (2) is fully seated before proceeding.
11. Secure the fluid section piston and the hydraulic motor
piston by reinstalling the two coupling halves (4). Slide
the O-ring (3) down over the coupling halves, (4), followed
by the coupling sleeve (2).
12. Replace the cover and secure with the screws.
Once this repair is complete, start the engine.

Allow the unit to run for a few minutes and then
shut it down.
Immediately check the hydraulic oil level and top
off if needed.
