Before calling for service, review this list. It may save you time and money. This list includes common occurrences that are not
the result of defective workmanship or materials in this appliance.
OCCURRENCE
The AC will not operate.
Air from the unit does not feel cold
enough.
The AC is cooling, but the room is
too warm - ice forming on the cooling
coil behind the decorative front.
The AC is cooling, but the room is
too warm - NO ice forming on the
cooling coil behind the decorative
front.
The AC turns on and off
rapidly.
The unit is noisy when operating
under cooling mode.
Water dripping INSIDE when the unit
is cooling.
Water dripping OUTSIDE when the
unit is cooling.
The room is too cold.

Troubleshooting

SOLUTION
The wall plug is disconnected. Push the plug firmly into the wall outlet.
The plug current device tripped. Press the RESET button.
Wrong house fuse or circuit breaker tripped. Replace the fuse with a time delay type or reset
circuit breaker.
The control is OFF. Turn the control on and set to the desired setting.
The room temperature is below 60 °F (16 °C). Cooling may not occur until room temperature rises
above 60 °F (16 °C).
The temperature sensing element is touching the cold coil, located behind the air filter. Straighten
away from the coil.
Reset to a lower temperature.
The compressor stops working when changing modes. Wait approximately 3 minutes and listen
for the compressor to restart when set to COOL mode.
The outdoor temperature is below 60 °F (16 °C). To defrost the coil, set to FAN ONLY mode.
The air filter may be dirty. Clean the filter. Refer to the "Care and Cleaning" section. To defrost,
set to FAN ONLY mode.
The temperature is set too low for nighttime cooling. To defrost the coil, set to FAN ONLY mode.
Then, set Temperature to a higher setting.
Dirty air filter - air restricted. Clean the air filter. Refer to the "Care and Cleaning" section.
The temperature is set too high. Set the temperature to a lower setting.
Air directional louvers are positioned improperly. Position the louvers for better air distribution.
The front of the unit is blocked by drapes, blinds, furniture, etc. - restricting air distribution. Clear
blockage in front of the unit.
Doors, windows, registers, etc. are open - cold air escapes. Close doors, windows, registers, etc.
The unit recently turned on in a hot room. Allow additional time to remove "stored heat" from walls,
ceilings, floors, and furniture.
Dirty air filter - air restricted. Clean the air filter.
The outside temperature is extremely hot. Set the FAN speed to a faster setting to bring air past
cooling coils more frequently.
Air movement sound. This is normal. If too loud, set to a slower FAN setting.
Window vibration - poor installation. Refer to installation instructions or check with the installer.
Improper installation. Tilt the AC slightly to the outside to allow water drainage. Refer
to installation instructions - check with the installer.
The unit releases a large amount of moisture from a humid room. This is normal during excessively
humid days.
The set temperature is too low. Increase the set temperature.
