Operation
Starting Operation
 Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of the pow-
er source must agree with the voltage specified on the
nameplate of the vacuum cleaner. Equipment marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
 Please inform yourself about the valid regula-
tions/laws for your country concerning the handling of
materials that are hazardous to one's health.
To save energy, only switch the vacuum cleaner on when us-
ing it.

Vacuuming Deposited Dusts (IS Operating Mode)
 Wear a dust respirator.
Note: In IS operating mode, it is only allowed to use the
35 mm hose and nozzle program.
To start the operation of the vac, set the mode selector
switch 6 to on.
To switch off the vac, set the mode selector switch 6 to off.
The vacuum cleaner is equipped with an airflow monitoring
system (Airflow). In the IS operating mode, the airflow is con-
tinuously set to a value of 20 m/s, independent of the positoin
of the Airflow regulator 5.
If this value is fallen below, e. g. caused through debris accu-
mulated in the vacuum hose, a full dust bag or a clogged fold-
ed filter, warning light 4 flashes. In this case, shut the vacuum
cleaner off and check it as described under "Malfunctions".
Extracting Dusts Resulting from Running Power Tools
(ENT Operating Mode with Remote Automatic Switching)
(see figure B)
 Wear a dust respirator.
 An adequate ventilation rate (L) must be provided for
when the outgoing air is circulated. Observe the re-
spective national regulations.
A socket outlet with earthing contact 7 is integrated in the
vacuum cleaner, which allows for connection of an external
power tool. The vacuum cleaner is automatically put into op-
eration via the power tool. Observe the maximal allowable
load of the connected power tool.
For connecting power tools, various hose systems are availa-
ble as accessories.
Set the Airflow regulator 5 to the hose diameter being used
(19 mm or 35 mm).
Bosch Power Tools
To ensure sufficient dust transport at the vacuum location,
the minimum airflow for the power tool connected may not be
fallen below.

Set the mode selector switch 6 to the operation with remote
automatic switching symbol.
In this operating mode, the airflow is electronically monitored
according to the setting of the Airflow regulator 5. Sufficient
dust transport is ensured when the setting is correctly select-
ed.
To start the operation of the vac, switch on the power tool
connected to the socket 7. The vacuum cleaner starts auto-
matically.
When the warning light 4 flashes and the alarm sounds, the
vacuum cleaner must be checked as described under "Mal-
functions".
To switch off the vac, switch off the power tool. The vacuum
cleaner switches off automatically approx. 6 seconds later.
In the operating mode ENT with remote automatic switch-
ing, the electronic reduced starting current limits the power
consumption when switching on the vacuum cleaner, and
thus allows operation from a 16-A circuit breaker.
Electromagnetic filter cleaning
The machine is equipped with an electromagnetic filter clean-
ing system, which removes dust adhering to the folded filter
18.
The filter cleaning system must be actuated at the latest when
the vacuuming performance is no longer sufficient.
Set the mode selector switch 6 to the symbol electromagnet-
ic filter cleaning. A possibly connected power tool must be
switched off.
The machine vibrates for approx. 10 seconds and switches
off automatically.
Wait shortly before restarting the vacuuming operation so
that the dust can settle in the container.
The filter cleaning frequency depends on the type and amount
of dust. With regular usage, the maximum vacuuming perfor-
mance is maintained longer.
Wet Vacuuming
 Do not vacuum inflammable or explosive fluids; for ex-
ample, benzene, oil, alcohol, solvents. Do not vacuum
hot or burning dust. Do not operate the machine in
rooms where the danger of an explosion exists. The
dusts, vapours or fluids can ignite or explode.
 The vacuum cleaner may not be used as a water pump.
The vacuum cleaner is intended for vacuuming air and wa-
ter mixtures.
 Before any work on the vacuum cleaner itself, pull the
mains plug.
Note: Before wet vacuuming, the dust bag 17 must be re-
moved and the container 11 must be emptied.
