Operating Instruction
Then test the connection between the bat-
tery and alternator and perform the test
again.
Alternator test result
1. Charging voltage normal
Charging voltage is sufficiently high. System
is functioning faultlessly.
2. Charging voltage low
Charging voltage is too low. Test the voltage
of the V-Belt and the connection between the
battery and the alternator. For more in-depth
diagnosis procedures, please refer to the ve-
hicle manufacturer's repair handbook.
3. Charging voltage high
The alternator charging voltage is too high.
Possible causes may be a defective regu-
lator or faulty actuation. There is a risk of
overcharging, which might lead to the bat-
tery being damaged or destroyed. The  nor-
mal charging voltage is between 13.8 – 14.2
volts for older vehicles and 14.7  ±0.5 volts
for modern vehicles. For more in-depth diag-
nosis procedures, please refer to the vehicle
manufacturer's repair handbook.
4. No charging voltage (NO OUTPUT)
No charging voltage was detected. Check
the cable connection between the battery
and alternator. For more in-depth diagnosis
procedures, please refer to the vehicle man-
ufacturer's repair handbook.

5. Diode test
The so-called hum voltage is determined
during the ripple test. If this is too high, it
means that at least one of the rectifier diodes
is defective.
NOTE
Please take note that the starting

and charge system test is only
performed in a very simplified
manner and serves purely as a
diagnosis aid.
