3.3 Test preparation

Clean the battery poles thoroughly
using a steel wire brush and an alkaline
cleaning agent – if required – before you
connect the battery pliers so as to reduce
contact resistance.
Ensure that the ignition and all electrical
consumers on the vehicle are switched
off and that all doors are closed.

If needs be, move the battery pliers to
and fro a little to ensure that the pliers fit
correctly and thereby guarantee the best
possible contact/connection
NOTE
A faultless connection between the
battery pliers and the battery pole
is essential for the purposes of the
test. Poor contact and subsequent-
ly increased contact resistance
distort the measurement and lead
to incorrect test results.
If there is insufficient contact, the message
"Check connection" appears.
Check the connection between the battery
pliers and the battery poles and subsequent-
ly clean the connections if necessary.
CHECK
CONNECTION
In the event of reversed polarity, the mes-
sage "Reverse connection" appears on the
screen. Establish the correct polarity again
to continue with the test.
