Cutting the Hole

1. Confirm that the equipment and pipe
are properly set-up.
2. Assume a proper operating position to
help maintain control of the drill.
• Securely hold the drill handle and aux-
iliary handle to resist forces during op-
eration.
• Be sure that you have good balance
and do not have to overreach.
3. Fully insert the hole saw into the guide
tube, aligning the orientation pin and
slot.
4. Turn ON the vacuum. This helps reduce
chips in the pipe system.
5. Turn ON the drill. Observe the rotation,
making sure it is running straight and
true. If any issues are noted, turn the
drill OFF and unplug, fix any issues
prior to using. Keep fingers, hands and
clothes away from the turning chuck to
help reduce the risk of entanglement.
6. Advance the pilot drill into contact with
the pipe. Apply firm pressure, and start
drilling the pilot hole. Do not force the
pilot drill/hole saw. This can overload
the drill and make the drill harder to
control. If the drill clutch disengages, re-
duce pressure. Do not use any coolants
or lubricants while drilling the hole.
