1. Setting up the device

Place the enclosed batteries in the device if they
have not already been inserted (see Page 48,
Changing batteries).
If you want to operate the device from the mains,
insert the plug on the mains adaptor (see Page
54 Accessories) into the socket at the back of the
device.
The batteries are switched off automatically.

2. Fitting the cuff

Bare your left upper arm. Slide the open cuff onto
your upper arm until the bottom edge of the cuff is
2-3 cm above the inside of the elbow. The air tube is
at the centre of the inside of the elbow.
Left-handed persons can place the cuff round their
right arm. The instructions for use apply by analogy.
The cuff should fit in such a way that 2 fingers can

Operation of the device

Check whether the arrow on the cuff is within the black
marking at the edge of the cuff
(arm circumference 22-23 cm).
Operation of the device
pass between the arm and the cuff. Before tighten-
ing, position your arm at a slight angle. The upper
arm muscle is tensed slightly and the circumference
of the arm increases slightly. Now pull the free end of
the cuff tight and place it over the velcro strip firmly.
Insert the cuff air connector into the air socket on the
device as far as it will go. Stretch out the upper arm,
relax it and place it on the table. It is essential that
during measurement you remain calm and do not
talk. Your palm should be facing upwards.

Important:

Never use the device above a critical part of the body
(e.g. wound, intravascular port).
If the cuff is too tight or too loose, this can lead to
inaccurate measurements. If you are wearing a shirt
or if you roll up your sleeve, this can restrict the
circulation of blood in the upper arm and thus falsify
measurements.
The cuff may only be inflated when it is attached to
the arm.
