These instructions are designed to help the user operate the digital
efficiently.
The device must be used according to the procedures contained in these instructions and must not be applied/used
for any other purposes.
It is important to read and understand the entire set of instructions.
Read through the instructions carefully and familiarise yourself particularly with the section entitled "Basic rules for
blood pressure measurement".
Measuring accuracy can be incorrect if absolute rest is not observed during measurement or if the conditions indi-
cated (temperature or humidity) are outside the limits set out in the specifications.
Inaccurate results can occur if the blood pressure monitor is used on children. Consult your doctor if you wish to
measure the blood pressure of a child.
The
visocor OM40 is based on non-invasive measurement of systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the upper arm
®
and measurement of pulse rate in adults, i.e. from the age of 15 upwards. Under no circumstances may the device be
used on a baby.
The product is recommended to patients with unstable blood pressure or known hypertension, for home use and
therapy support.

Notes on use
The standard cuff fits an upper arm circumference of 22 to 32 centimetres.
The device covers pressures up to 300 mmHg and a pulse rate of 40 to 200 beats per minute.
Method of measurement
This product uses the oscillometric method for measuring blood pressure and pulse rate. The cuff is connected to the
device and placed round the arm as shown on the diagram on the cuff. When the Start/Stop button is pressed, the
system starts to build up pressure automatically.
Within a very short space of time the device records the small oscillations within the cuff, which occur owing to expan-
sion and contraction of the arteries in the arm (heartbeat). The automatic build-up of pressure usually stops at approx.
40 mmHg above the systolic level to be expected (fuzzy logic). Then the measuring process proper starts by letting
air out of the cuff. The amplitude of each pressure wave is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg), converted
and displayed in the LCD in the form of a digital value. Systole, diastole and pulse are established and after that the
cuff is completely deflated.
A memory stores the last 30 results for the purposes of comparison.
