Safety System ISK 76-21

General Information

The ISK cable transmission system solves the problem of connecting a movable safety
contact edge on a gate wing and a stationary monitoring electronic without mechanical
stress. The communications between the movable safety contact edge and the monitoring
electronics are based on inductivity. To achieve this, the monitoring electronics induces a
frequency on a coil core, which is merged into a closed cable loop.
The second coil core to which the movable safety contact edge are connected receives
this frequency and, in case of a wire break or the activation of a safety contact edge,
sends a corresponding message to the monitoring electronics.
Function
The compact and easy-to-install safety system is designed for the use with gate-
controllers, which give an appropriate test-signal before each dangerous movement of
the gate.
Up to four safety contact edge circuits can be connected to the ISK 76-21 monitoring
electronics. For the safety contact edges (SKL) on the portal wing, two channels are
available (SKL opening movement, and SKL closing movement), while two channels are
also available for the safety contact edges on the guidepost. The movable safety contact
edges on the portal are monitored by the cable transmission system. This monitoring
is contact-free which results in no wear. The fixed safety contact edges are connected
directly to the monitoring electronics.
The ISK 76-21 safety system continuously monitors these four safety contact edge
circuits for activation or interruption (wire break). In case of a fault, one of the two stop
outputs (stop in the opening direction or stop in closing direction) is assigned to the
affected safety contact edge circuit. In order to permit quiescent current monitoring of the
entire system, a terminal resistor is integrated into the final edge of the safety contact
edge circuit. If the nominal quiescent current is flowing, the output relays are activated
and the switching contacts are closed. If the switching element is activated or the safety
circuit is interrupted, the relay switching contacts open.
The switch states of the relays and the applied operating voltage are indicated by
LEDs.

Intended Use

The safety system ISK 76-21 can only perform its safety function if it is used correctly and integrated
into the process in a fail safe manner.
The intended use of the safety system ISK76-21 is to monitor stationary and moving safety contact
edges with a 8.2 KOhm endresistor.
A different or enlarged use is not intended. The manufacturers do not assume liability for damages
and malfunctions caused by any use not intended.
The manufacturer has to permit the use in special applications.
