Filling

Before filling the bath, disconnect the mains power supply. Fill the tank to a maximum
level of 10mm from the top with a liquid suitable for your working temperature.
Specified Liquids:-
-30° to 30° C
0° to 30° C
+5 to 80° C
80° to 99.9° C
Note: For the long term reliability of water baths it is important to use oxygenated water that is free
from ions and minerals that can cause corrosion. Grant recommend the use of distilled water and de-
ionised water from modern ion exchange systems with replaceable cartridges. Do not use water from
a system that incorporates a salt back flush system as this can leave sodium ions that are corrosive to
stainless steel.
70° to 120° C

Switching on and setting up.

Connect the control unit to a grounded (earthed) electrical power supply with voltage and
frequency within the range specified on the serial number plate.
DO NOT SWITCH ON BEFORE FILLING THE TANK.
Note: GD100/GD120 When changing settings the display will revert to home display if no
changes are made within 30 seconds.

GD120.
Connect the pump to your external circuit if required Before switching on for
the first time, use a screwdriver to turn the set over temperature control fully
clockwise. Press the set over temperature reset to ensure that it is reset.
Switch the power on Press the "S" button and rotate the "Navigator" knob to
set the required operating temperature. Press "S" button again to fix this
value. Wait until the liquid temperature has stabilised at the operating
temperature. The display flashes when in the set temperature mode.
If required the over temperature should now be set using the instructions in 3.1.4.3.

Use a lid to reduce the dilution of the mixture caused by condensing
water vapour from the air, and to maintain the cool down rate.
Water, recommended temperature range.
Use a lid or polypropylene spheres above 60° C to reduce
evaporation and heat loss.
Water can be used but care should be taken with its use as hot
water vapour can be dangerous. A lid or polypropylene spheres
must be used. At these temperatures the temperature control will be
reduced due to localised boiling, and there may be a large loss of
water due to evaporation. The control units should not be used to
boil water.
Silicone fluid with the following characteristics;
Viscosity 20 centistokes
Flash point ≥230°C
Fire Point ≥280
E.g. Dow Corning silicone fluid DC200/20 Follow manufacture‟s instruction.
For safe disposal consult your Local Environmental Health Office.
