For the most accurate temperature the probe tip should be placed directly
against the patient's skin.
11.) Have the patient then lower the arm and remain
as still as possible. Hold the probe parallel to
the arm.
12.) If two short beeps are heard, it means the unit
switched to direct (slow) mode for this
temperature only.
13.) A 'long beep' is sounded when measurement is
complete and the final temperature is displayed.
14.) Eject the used cover into a bio-waste container
by pushing the top button.
15.) After returning the probe to the probe well, the temperature is stored and
shown on the display for 10s. After measurement the temperature will be
shown for 60s if the probe is not returned to the probe well.
16.) If the probe is returned to the probe well before the 'long beep' is heard,
no temperature will be stored for the recall function.
17.) Switch off the ri-former® diagnostic station
byusing the rocker switch which safely terminates
operation of RPT-100 predictive thermometer.
i.) Taking rectal temperatures
1.) Ensure the red probe is attached.
2.) Press button 1 and the thermometer turns on automatically. Continue
pressing button 1 to select test mode.
3.) An icon identifying rectal mode is always displayed while the red probe is
attached. Pressing button 2 to change modes has no effect.
4.) Withdraw the probe and apply a probe cover.
5.) Apply lubrication if desired.
6.) Insert the probe into the patient's rectum. To ensure proper tissue contact,
angle the probe slightly after insertion.
7.) Depth of insertion is recommended at 1/2" to 3/4" (12 mm - 19 mm) for
adults and 1/4" to 1/2" (6 mm - 13 mm) for children.
8.) If the icon identifies a mode change, it means the unit has switched to
direct (slow) mode for this measurement only.
9.) A 'long beep' sounds when measurement is complete and the final
temperature is displayed.
10.) Eject the used cover into a bio-waste container by pushing the top button.
11.) After returning the probe to the probe well, the temperature is stored for
recall until the probe is once again withdrawn. If the probe is returned to
the probe well before the 'long beep' is heard, no temperature will be
stored for the recall function.
j.) Setup mode
1.) To enter setup mode, press and hold button 1 and button 2 at the same
time for 4 seconds. A 'beep' is heard.
2.) Button 1 is used to move forward through the different configuration
options, while button 2 is used to change an option configuration
3.) In setup mode you can turn on or off quick mode, cold mode, sound and,
change Celsius and Fahrenheit scales.
4.) Recall temperature: can recall ten records.
5.) In setup mode you can check the serial number.
6.) In setup mode you can check the software version.
7.) Press and hold button 1 and button 2 at the same time for 4 seconds. A
'beep' is heard. Then exit setup mode.
7. General information

Cleaning and disinfection

Cleaning and disinfection of medical products protects patients, users and third
parties, lead to value retention of medical products. Due to product design and
materials used there is no possibility to define the maximum limit of re-proces-
sing cycles. The lifetime of a medical product is determined by its function and
how it is used. Before sending back defective products for repair, the following
instructions should be followed.
Cleaning and disinfection
The ri-former® diagnostic station with extension module and RPT-100 predic-
tive thermometer extension module can be cleaned on the outside (with the
exception of the clock glass cover) using a damp cloth until optical cleanliness
is achieved. Use
disinfection products only according to the manufacturer's instructions. Only
disinfectants with proven effectiveness according to national guidelines should
be used. After disinfection, please wipe the instruments using a
damp cloth in order to eliminate any remnants of the disinfectant.
