Ikarus Gyros are a new generation of electronic gyroscopic stabilizing
systems for remote controlled R/C models. These systems automatically
control external forces acting on the model (wind gusts) and maintain a
momentary fixed attitude of the model. The gyros are linked between the
receiver exit and the servo and are mechanically positioned corresponding
to the required corrective axis. The sensitivity and neutral position of the
servo are adjustable. Our Piezo gyros are compact and lightweight, they
grant fast reaction times in the range of milliseconds, no wear, intelligent
temperature compensation and an outstanding cost/performance ratio. With
gyros from IKARUS model flying advances into a new dimension.

WIRING SCHEMATIC
The gyro is hooked up between servo and receiver. Plug the receiver
connector of the MINI GYRO into the receiver socket, for instance into the
aileron channel output socket. Connect the servo to the MINI GYRO. Please
see the socket positions in figure above.

INSTALLATION
Choose a position of the MINI GYRO away from vibration and heat. Cables to
motor, speed controller and battery should be routed as far as possible away
of the MINI GYRO. The gyro compensates angular movements about the
correction axis by means of corresponding counter steering and must
therefore be installed in the correct position referring to the axis about which
the compensation takes place. In order to achieve this effect the MINI GYRO
correction axis must be aligned parallel with the required correction axis of
the model (see figures).
Alignment of the gyro axis in a HELICOPTER
In a helicopter the gyro usually controlls the tail rotor. Accordingly the tail is
held steady even with strong cross winds.

Caution!
On some gyros the labeling for sensitivity
and zero adjust is not correct. The labeling
in the picture shown here is correct.

Alignment of the gyro axis in a wing airplane
In this case the gyro is utilized to control the elevator or rudder. For beginners the
gyro is helpful in controlling the nose landing gear and especially, the tail dragger
steering. With cross wind the model behaves similarly to no wind conditions.
Lateral axis/elevator
Alignment of the gyro axis in cars/boats
The MINI GYRO safely holds your model in its direction. Drifting is much
reduced. Unnecessary spin outs are avoided. Control during fast and straight
runs improves thanks to MINI GYRO.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
First check the gyro for correct responding to external forces. If the gyro is
mounted wrong it will increase external forces instead of compensating them. If
you want to reverse the direction of rotation simply rotate the MINI GYRO by 180
degrees.
Avoid immediate operation after high temperature fluctuations caused by
differences between storage and flight line temperatures. Wait until your MINI
GYRO achieves the environment temperature of the flying site. Make sure of the
correct servo connections according to the directions above. Switch on your
transmitter. Ascertain that the throttle stick is in low throttle position, this is
especially important with electric models. Switch on the receiver. Now your
model is flight ready.
FINE ADJUSTMENT - servo zero adjust
Turn the SENSITIVITY potentiometer and watch the servo arm. Should the
servo arm slightly move, adjust the SERVO NEUTRAL potentiometer to a
position where turning of the SENSITIVITY potentiometer has no more influence
on the servo.
FINE ADJUSTMENT - sensitivity
Turning the potentiometer left increases servo movements, turning it right
decreases servo movements in accordance with a given angular rotation of the
model.
Warranty
This quality product has been thoroughly checked before delivery. Nevertheless, in case of complaints
your warranty claims will be handled in accordance with our current General Sales Conditions. If
equipment returned for warranty repair shows full functionality during the entry inspection, handling charge
will be € 21,-. According to our experience the product works well with all current R/C systems. On the other
hand we cannot grant functionality with a specific R/C system due to the fact that control pulse conditions of
receivers are not liable to standardization. We must as well reject any responsibility for consequential
damage arisen from the use of our products since we are not able to supervise their appropriate
application.
Safety directions
The CE-label is no allowance for negligent handling of the equipment. Avoid dangerous areas of motors,
propellers, gears and rotor blades. Always consider electric systems as potentially dangerous. Always
remove the battery if you intend to work on the system. Avoid direct and condensed humidity. The product is
not protected against reversal of polarity. Reversing polarity or cables can entail irreparable damages.
Plugs and sockets must always fit perfectly. Improvisations can give rise to damages. Care about the
power consumption of the power supply, especially with regard to the gyro. A higher power consumption
than assigned for can damage the power supply and other equipment connected to it. Never disconnect an
electrical appliance from the battery as long as it is operating.
Operating directions
The transmitter must always be switched on first and subsequently the receiver. Make sre that the throttle
stick is in the low throttle position. In any case verify that you are exclusive user of the selected frequency
and nobody else is using it. Pay attention to the CE-labels of other components. Provide motors with at
least 2 noise suppressing ceramic capacitors 10 - 100 nF/63 - 100 V and optional with further noise
suppressing means (filters, chokes). Route the antenna at least 1" away of motor, battery, speed controller
and their cables. Install the receiver as far away as possible of motor, battery and speed controller. Keep
cables as short as possible. Motor and battery cables should be twisted. For the purpose of storing your
model remove the batteries and store it at a dry place with normal air humidity. Should the system act
erratically, disconnect the flight battery from the system and reconnect it again after a waiting period of 5 -
10 s.
