Starting a sensorless motor
Before starting the motor the
motor. But this knowledge is essential for a efficient operation. To get this information the
forces the motor to run with a very low speed at brute force with a constant cur-

rent. The speed is increased at a fixed rate until the
position itself. This procedure takes about 300ms, the motor is running very rough and the
current consumed is relatively high. At the time the
sition, the motor starts to increase speed very fast and smooth and the motor current will
drop rapidly when unloaded.
This very operation normally takes about 500ms to 1s. If it takes more than 1.5s the
will switch off the motor. Pull throttle to minimum position and try again. If your load

is too heavy (e.g. because of friction) or the moment of inertia is to high (propeller too
large), the
may not be able to start the motor.

Starting during flight
The conditions for the start of the combination motor/
peller different than for a not on-streamed one. In principle it is possible that a drive that
usually starts without problems does sometimes not start in flight after turning off the mo-
tor. This case is of course only relevant for fixed propellers, not for folding propellers.
Although these cases are very seldom, we recommend to adjust the trim of the throttle
such that the motor rotates even for the position „motor off". This prevents that the motor
stopps running during flight.
Check of function and transmission range for the first time
Before flying the first time, check if everything works fine without propeller. Do not engage
constant-speed-control. After activating
starts running, the current can rise as high as 5A. When it runs the current decrease to
0,2..0,4A.
If the motor doesn' trun at this point something is wrong, do not try more throttle. If you
can' t detect an error, contact us.
In case the current doesn' t r ise at all, while you slowly engage throttle you have to check
the power connections. If you can' tdetect an error, don' t t ry to repair, contact us. When
the reason is found and the error is removed you can connect the accu again and activate
the

If it works, check the rotation-direction. If it is not o.k. flip two motor wires. Now, after
slowly pulling throttle to maximum, measure the current flowing out of the accu. It should
not be more than 1 to 5A. The higher the number of windings the less is the value of the
idle current.
Now you can mount the propeller and/or engage constant-speed-control, if desired. Be-
fore flying, check current at maximum throttle. Don' tuse propellers you don' tknow the
currents they cause.
If the current is o.k you can check the transmission range. Although the interference po-
tential of a brushless motor is small compared to a usual motor, interferences could occur.
The main reasons are bad placed installations of the remote control equipment. The most
