Carbon Series Drive Control "Twin"
Item no. 20 73 70

Intended use
The product is connected to a receiver for radio controls of model cars and serves as variable speed control
of two mode electric motors.
The drive control is especially designed for so-called "crawler" vehicles with 2 motors, meaning slower
model cars suited to overcome even large obstacles due to the special chassis and transmission. To
prevent rolling off of slopes, this drive control automatically activates the brake when the throttle on the
transmitter is released (neutral position). It does not matter if you were previously driving backwards or
forwards.
This product complies with the applicable National and European specifications. Any company or product

Safety instructions
The guarantee/warranty will be void if damage is incurred resulting from non-compliance
with the operating instructions. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
We do not assume any liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or the failure to observe the safety instructions! In such cases the
guarantee is voided.
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never cut the cable/plug off the drive control, this will cause the warranty to be
void.
• The product is not a toy and has no place in the hands of children.
• The product should not be allowed to become damp or wet.
• Do not short-out the connecting cable, as this would damage the drive control. The same is true for
overload (e.g. through the use of an inappropriate motor) or by incorrect polarity. Never attach a Schottky
diode. Only use electric motors with radio interference shielding.
• Unclamp the battery from the control cruise if you do not use the latter. If the cruise control is not used
for brief period, it can be deactivated via the the On/Off switch.
• Always turn on the transmitter first before connecting the control cruise with the battery and switching
it on!
• Before turning off the transmitter, turn off the cruise control and, if necessary, separate it from the battery.
• The drive control is designed for NiMH/NiCd rechargeable batteries (6-7 cells).
It can also be used with 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery packs, however in this case there is
no low voltage safety shutdown. In the event that a LiPo-battery pack is operated with the drive
control, the LiPo-battery pack will be damaged by a total discharge!
• The cooling system can become very hot during operation, danger of burning!
• Handle the product carefully, it can be damaged by impacts, strikes or by falling from a low height.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children!

Installation
Install the control cruise with double-sided scotch tape (or with a Velcro), as far from the receiver as
possible. The power cable to the motors and to the rechargeable battery as well as the thin control cables
must be installed far from the aerial cable (the aerial cable should run directly from the receiver to the aerial
fitting). Otherwise this can lead to malfunction of the model or a shorter radio range.
Make sure that the cruise control is sufficiently cooled.
The cables must not get into moving parts, secure them with cable fasteners. The cooling fins must not be
covered.

Connection
• Connect two motors with the drive control. The four motor cables are marked so you will know which ones
to use for motor 1 and which ones for motor 2. If the rotation direction of a motor is not correct anymore
later on, switch the two cables of the motor and set the servo reverse correctly on the remote control.
However, do not switch the cables leading to the rechargeable battery. This destroys the drive
control and the warranty/guarantee will be void!
• Connect the three-pole plug on your receiver. Make absolutely sure you have the correct receiver
configuration (see operation instructions for receiver as well as the inscription on the receiver).

Ground
• As the drive control does not have a BEC, you may not use a receiver battery or rechargeable receiver
battery! The battery supplies the receiver directly with power via the drive control.
• Install the On/Off switch of the drive control in the car; place the switch to the "OFF" position.

Running the vehicle
• Turn on you transmitter (control the status of the battery or the rechargeable battery!) Place the trim
regulator in the centre position; place the throttle lever in the neutral position.
• The switch of the drive control must be set to the "OFF" position.
• Insert the battery pack in the car and connect it to the cruise control.
Attention!
Place the model car so the drive wheels do not make contact with the ground or other objects.
Do not touch the drive mechanism, do not block it. Risk of injury!
• Let go of the throttle or move it to the neutral position. Put the trimmer for the throttle/brake into the center
position. Do not move the throttle anymore.
• Turn the drive control on (switch into the "ON" position).
• The motor emits a brief confirmation beep and the two LEDs in the drive control blink rapidly (approx.
2 seconds). Then the motor emits a confirmation beep ("DO-RE-MI"), the neutral position is saved and
the green LED in the drive control is permanently lit (the red LED is off).
• The drive control is now ready for operation, you can steer the vehicle via your remote control.
If the vehicle reacts exactly opposite, exchange the two cables of motor 1 with each other (or the two
cables of motor 2) and set the servo reverse correctly on the remote control.
• The LED lights green in neutral position, blinks fast when driving forward or slow when driving in reverse.
The end position is reached when the LED is permanently red when driving forward (full throttle).
If the transmitter signal fails, the drive control turns off the motor for safety reasons (however,
the steering servo will shake if you do not have a failsafe installed).
The motor is also turned off in case the drive control overheats. In this case, check e.g. the
transmission of the drive or the motor type.
• A special feature of this drive control is a brake function in neutral position.
Regardless of whether you drive forward or reverse - the motors are automatically braked
when letting go of the throttle (neutral position)!
This prevents the vehicle from rolling off slopes (which of course depends on the steepness
of the slope).

Ending operation
• First switch off the drive control (bring switch into the "OFF" position).
• Then separate the rechargeable battery from the control cruise.
• Switch off the transmitter.
