7.3 Commissioning

Only those persons who have read and understood these assembly instructions completely may
start the linear unit.
Forces arise when this linear unit is in operation which can lead to damage to persons or property.
It is imperative that you obey the safety rules and the limits of the linear unit.

7.3.1 Normal operation

Check the linear unit when in operation regularly for correct performance of its function.
In normal operation, look out for detectable changes to the incomplete machine. Should faults
arise, the linear unit is to be shut down immediately in order to avoid damage.
The operating instructions for the complete machine in accordance with Machine Directive 2006/
42/EC are an essential component of a complete machine.

7.4 Servicing/maintenance/cleaning

Before starting any work on the linear unit, any electrical drives used are to be pro-
tected against accidental switching on.
All linear units are provided in the factory with the required lubricant quantities. Servicing inter-
vals are dependent on the hours run, the stressing and environmental factors.
Lubrication occurs directly via the grease nipple. Before lubricating, clean grease and oil from the
lubrication point. Ensure you align the grease gun axially with the flow direction of the nipple.

Guidance shaft lubrication

Oiled felt strips are used for lubricating (cleaning) the guidance shafts. The felt strips must be re-
oiled periodically, according to the stressing, via the shaft lubrication system.
Recommended lubricants:
Oil with a viscosity of approximately 200 mm²/s at
T = 40°C e.g. SAE90 gearbox oil.
Initial lubrication after approx. 2000 hours run.
Next interval: Every 1000 hours run.
Amount approx. 0.4-1.5 cm³ depending on size
