Thank you for deciding to purchase this high-quality product from the WAAGEN-SCHMITT
Company. You have purchased a set of scales of the highest technical standard and proven quality.
Please read through this operating manual carefully before starting-up the scales for the first time,
and keep it in a safe place so that this information is available to you when you need it.

1. Start-up

Insert ing the batt eries:
Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the scales and dispose of the battery
safety strips. Please pay attention to the correct polarity of the two CR2032 lithium batteries (+/-).
Safety information:
Please take care not to let any objects fall onto the scales, otherwise the
scales could be damaged.
Only clean the scales with a damp cloth. Do not use any solvents or
abrasive cleaning products. Do not immerse in water. All plastic parts of
the scales should be cleaned immediately after contact with fat, spices,
vinegar and other strongly seasoned and coloured foodstuffs. Avoid
contact with citric acid.

2. Operation

Activating the scales:
Place the scales on an even and firm surface. To switch the scales on, press down on the weighing
platform with a pressure of at least 500 grams (Press-On Technology). The figures "8888" will first
appear on the display. After the scales have stabilised, "0 g" or "0:00 lb oz" will appear depending
on the settings. The scales are now ready for weighing.
Please note: If, after activating the scales, a weight-value is displayed, touch the SEC|TARE button
to set the scales to zero.
Changing the unit of weight:
By touching the MIN|G/LB button you can change the country-specific unit of weight (g = gram / lb
oz = pound ounce). Please make sure that the scales are set to the weight-unit relevant to you.
Zeroing (tare) function:
By touching the SEC|TAR E button you can set the scales to "0 g". Activate the scales and place,
for example, a bowl on the weighing platform, press the SEC|TARE button and thus set the scales
to "0 g" again. This process can be repeated as often as you like until the total capacity of the
scales (5 kg) is reached. After removing the weighed item the total weight will be displayed as a
negative value.
Automatic deactivation of scales:
If the displayed weight does not change within approx. 3 minutes, the scales will automatically turn
off.

3. Timer

Sett ing the timer:
With the scale switched on, touch the S/S button in order to enter timer mode. The letters "M"
(minutes) und "S" (seconds) as well as the indicator "00:00" (time setting) will appear on the display.
If you have already used the timer function, the previously specified time will appear. By
simultaneously pressing the MIN|G/LB and SEC|TARE buttons you can reset the time display to
"00:00". Now by touching the MIN|G/LB button you can set the desired minutes, and by touching
2
the SEC|TAR E button you can set the desired seconds. To set the values more quickly, hold your
finger down on the respective button. After entering the desired time, touch the S/S button again to
confirm. The timer will count down and after reaching the end a loud beep will sound for approx. 60
seconds. Stop the beeping by touching a button. During countdown the timer function can, at any
time, be stopped and/or resumed by touching the S/S button.
Stopwatch function:
Touch the S/S button in order to enter timer mode. Touch the S/S button once more in order to
activate the stopwatch function. While it is running the stopwatch function can, at any time, be
stopped and/or resumed by touching the S/S button. By simultaneously touching the MIN|G/LB and
SEC|TARE buttons you can reset the time indicator to "00:00".
Please note: In order to return to weighing mode, please press and hold the SEC|TAR E and the S/S
buttons simultaneously until the indicator "8888" appears on the display. After a few moments, the
scales are ready again and "0 g" appears on the display.
