5. Durable Solid Diamond Stylus
The property of the solid diamond, stylus tip of
the DL-103, remains stable for a long time with-
out much wear. Diamond is a uniquely hard
substance, yet the hardness at a spot on a dia-
mond is determined by the direction of the crystal
structure axis.
The rate of wear of a diamond stylus fixed to a car-
tridge varies according to the direction in which the
stylus is fixed. In every DL-103 cartridge, the stylus
is fixed taking the crystal orientation into account
so that its hardest part will be in contact with the
groove of the record.
