3 Applications

The wireless PA system TXA-480 consists of a wireless
microphone and an active speaker system with inte -
grated microphone receiver. The radio transmission
is made in the frequency range of 863.05 MHz to
864.95 MHz. The active speaker system can be oper -
ated with a 230 V mains voltage, with a 12 – 15 V DC
volt age supplied externally (e. g. from a car battery), or
with batteries. Thus, the system is ideally suited for mo -
bile applications, e. g. for lectures or sales promotion.
The active speaker system is also provided with two
inputs for cable microphones, an input for an audio unit
with line output level (e. g. cassette recorder, port able
CD player), and an output for connecting a record er or
another amplifier. An integrated charging facility allows
to charge exhausted batteries (1 × 9 V bat tery, 2 × bat-
tery of size AA).

3.1 Conformity and approval

Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the wireless system TXA-480 is in accordance with the
basic requirements and the other relevant regulations
of the directive 1995/5/EC. The declaration of con -
formity can be found in the Internet via the MONACOR
INTERNATIONAL home page (www.monacor.com).
The system is licence free and generally approved for
operation in EU and EFTA countries.
4 Setting up the Active Speaker System
The active speaker system can be placed as desired
or mounted onto a stand with M8 thread via the
threaded jack on its lower side. When mounting it onto
a stand, remove the protecting cap of the threaded
jack (22) and screw the active speaker system onto
the stand via this jack.

5 Setting the System into Operation

,
5.1 Power supply of the active speaker system
The unit can be operated alternatively via the 230 V
mains, via an external DC voltage source supplying a
voltage of 12 to 15 V, or via batteries.

5.1.1 Mains connection

In case of mains operation, the battery compartment
(18) of the unit will be switched off.
1) The mains cable is stowed behind the removable
cover plate on the rear side of the unit: Press down
the two snap locks at the top of the cover plate, fold
down the cover plate, then remove it.
2) Take out the mains cable (21) and remove the
cable tie.
3) Replace the cover plate while guiding the mains
cable through the cable outlet at the bottom of the
cover plate. Engage the snap locks of the cover
plate.
4) Connect the plug of the mains cable to a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
5.1.2 External DC voltage source
For mains-independent operation, the unit can be sup-
plied with power via an external DC voltage supply
(12 – 15 V), e. g. a 12 V car battery. For connecting the
power supply to the low voltage jack (17) on the rear
side of the unit, a plug with an outside diameter of
5 mm or 5.5 mm and an inside diameter of 2.1 mm is
required. Always observe the correct polarity: Apply
the negative pole to the inner contact of the plug.
When connecting an external DC voltage source,
the battery compartment (18) of the unit will be
switched off.

5.1.3 Inserting batteries

1) The battery compartment is situated behind the
removable cover plate on the rear side of the unit:
