1 Description and purpose
Application:
These instructions are for use by the Clinician/Practitioner.
The Avalon foot is to be used exclusively as part of a lower limb prosthesis. The
K2
dorsi flexes after mid stance and remains dorsi flexed at toe off through the swing phase
to give greater toe clearance for improved confidence and security. The controlled plantar
flexion provided by the
stability on uneven surfaces and slopes.
This device is recommended for users that have the potential to achieve Activity Level 2
who may benefit from enhanced stability and an increase in confidence on uneven surfaces
and slopes.
Of course there are exceptions and in our recommendation we want to allow for unique,
individual circumstances. There may also be a number of users in Activity Level 1 who would
benefit from the enhanced stability offered by the

Contra-indications:
Due to the cushioned heel and limited energy return from the foot keel this device is not
suitable for Activity Level 3 or 4 individuals. This type of user will be better served by a
specially designed prosthesis optimized for their needs.
This device is not suitable for users with poor balance.
Intended for single user.
Ensure that the user has understood all instructions for use, drawing particular attention to
the section regarding maintenance.
Activity Level 2
Has the ability or potential for ambulation with the ability to traverse low level
environmental barriers such as curbs , stairs or uneven surfaces. Typical of the
limited community ambulator.
