Cause
The battery is too
warm or too cold.
There is a malfunction
in the KombiEngine.

too hot.
There is a fault in the
battery.
No electrical contact
between the Kombi‐
Engine and battery.
The KombiEngine or
battery is damp.

too hot.
There is an electrical
fault.
The battery is not fully

life has been excee‐
ded.

STIHL recommends that you wear hearing pro‐
tection.
The exact noise and vibration specifications
depend on the KombiTool being used and are
described in the KombiTool's instruction manual.

Remedy
► Pull the connecting cable plug out of the
socket.
► Allow the battery to cool down or warm
up.
► Pull connecting cable plug out of the
socket and plug it in again.
► Switch on the KombiEngine.
► If 3 LEDs continue to flash red: Do not
use your KombiEngine and contact your
STIHL dealer for assistance.
► Pull the connecting cable plug out of the
socket.
► Allow the KombiEngine to cool down.
► Pull connecting cable plug out of the
socket and plug it in again.
► Switch on the KombiEngine.
► If 4 LEDs continue to flash red: Do not
use the battery; contact a STIHL servi‐
cing dealer.
► Pull connecting cable plug out of the
socket and plug it in again.
► If the KombiEngine still does not start
when switched on: Clean contacts of
connecting cable as described in the
User Manual for the STIHL AR battery or
for the AP belt bag with connecting
cable.
► Allow the KombiEngine or battery to dry.
► Pull the connecting cable plug out of the
socket.
► Allow the KombiEngine to cool down.
► Pull connecting cable plug out of the
socket and plug it in again.
► If KombiEngine continues to cut out
during operation: Clean contacts of con‐
necting cable as described in the User
Manual for the STIHL AR battery or for
the AP belt bag with connecting cable.
► Switch on the KombiEngine.
► Fully charge battery as described in the
User Manual for the STIHL AL 101, 300,
301-4, 500 chargers.
► Replace battery.
