6.3 Replacing the Handpiece

1. Unscrew the nozzle from the handpiece (refer

2. Unscrew the rear union nut from the hand-
piece and pull the handpiece off the hose.
3. Pull the union nut and "O"-ring off the hose.
4. Push the union nut and "O"-ring of the new
handpiece approximately 10 cms onto the
hose.
5. Press the hose as far as possible into the
new handpiece.
6. Push the "O"-ring and union nut onto the
handpiece and tighten the nut.

6.4 Draining Water of Condensation

Check regularly for water of condensation in the
glass bowl of the filter unit. Should water of
condensation have collected, press the drainage
valve on the bottom of the glass bowl to empty
the water.

Avoiding Errors

Never underestimate the relevance of the
coating process for the bond quality attained
by the ROCATEC-SYSTEM.
After blasting, no exposed areas must remain on
the area being faced.
(Check the coating = dark, matte coloured metal

surface).
"O"-ring
Each surface being faced must be blasted
Union nut
and coated with ROCATEC-PLUS for at least
13 seconds. Otherwise, the bonding layer
would be defective.
The nozzle must be held perpendicular to, and
1 cm from, the metal surface during the
ROCATEC procedure. This is just as important
for the bonding layer.
Contaminated or incorrect abrasive material
may not clean the metal surface properly and
adversely affect the quality of the bond.
Damp ROCATEC abrasive materials must not be
used with the bonding system and should be
disposed of.
The quality of the bond also depends on the
opaquer being applied correctly. A thin, uniform
coat of creamy opaquer should be brushed on to
ensure that it bonds properly. Refer to the manu-
facturer's instructions when applying and curing
the composite.
