e. To remove the fabric or leather neck cover a small tool (screwdriver or small pick) must be used to push the outer retaining clips away from
the welding helmet (Fig. 30e). Then the 4 small clips can be removed as in Fig. 30a.
7. Task Light Kit: The 3M™ Speedglas™ Heavy-Duty Welding Helmet G5-01 has an available Task Light that can be mounted to the chin area of
the welding helmet. The task light, powered by a 3M™ Adflo™ Li-ion Battery, enables welders to light up the work area directly in front of them
in order to get a better view of the workpiece. The Task light is designed to be used only with the 3M™ Speedglas™ Heavy-Duty Welding Helmet
G5-01.
• To avoid damage to the product do not use solvents or alcohol for cleaning or disinfection. Do not immerse in water or spray directly with
liquids.
• The product should be disposed of as electronic waste.
• Carefully check that the product is complete, undamaged and correctly assembled. Any damaged or defective parts must be replaced before
each use.
• Do not look directly into the light source.
• If an installed Task Light is to be removed and the welding helmet used without it, a new neck cover (rigid, fabric or leather) must be installed
as the current one will have holes in it. See section 6 – "Neck Cover". Misuse may result in serious bodily injury or death. For correct use,
consult your supervisor and User Instructions or contact 3M.
NOTE: The Task Light is equipped with overheat protection. When the temperature exceeds the working temperature of the light, the power to the
LEDs is reduced. This operation is to give the LEDs a longer life time, not because there is a risk of fire.
a. Installation
i.
Three small 3/16" (5mm) holes must be drilled into the rigid neck cover or the plastic of the fabric or leather neck cover to install the
task light. With the neck cover in place, set the welding helmet on a stable surface (accounting for drilling through to that surface) and
drill the three holes. Alternately, three small marks may be made, the neck cover removed, the holes drilled and the neck cover replaced
(Fig. 31a).
