can be sheathed and furnished with automatic connectors with
swivel plates (#1-4) (Reference with the suffix FF). The "PRODUCT
REFERENCE" table summarises the different existing versions.
The NLDVM lifeline can only be used horizontally, with a
minimum range of 5 meters and a maximum range of 20 meters,
without an intermediate point and without any bend(#2).
In the case of a fall arrester system, it must always be used with
a fall protection system limiting stress to 600 daN in case of a fall
(mobile fall arrestor on rigid belaying support EN353-1, mobile fall
arrestor on flexible belaying support EN353-2, energy absorber
EN355, self-retracting fall arrester EN360). In case of integrated
use in a restraint system or in a work-positioning system, it must
be used as a complement to a lanyard as per EN358 or EN354.
VERIFICATIONS :
- When combining the fall arrest system with other safety
components, verify the compatibility of each of the components
and make sure to apply all recommendations from product
notices and the applicable standards relative to fall arrest
systems. Ensure in particular that the safety functions of one
of the components are not affected by the safety functions of
another component and that they do not interfere with each
other.
- Before each use of a fall arrest system, it is imperative to verify
the free fall space (clearance) required under the user, in such
a manner that in the event of a fall, there is no collision either
with the ground or with a fixed or moving obstacle that is found
within the trajectory. The clearance under the user's feet must
take into account the maximum sag of the lifeline and the
air draft required for the fall arrest equipment used (see
manual of the equipment used)(#4): Minimum clearance = y + 1
m + fall arrester minimum clearance.
- Caution, the clearance is likely to increase if the lifeline is
combined with a fall protection device with automatic return
(EN360) or a mobile fall protection device on a flexible anchorage
support (EN353-2) which have not been tested together. In
addition, the deflection caused in case of a fall must not bring the
safety line in contact with a sharp edge or any other component
capable of damaging the strap.
- Check, by visual inspection, before, during and after use, that the
equipment is in good condition and for the absence of defects. In
case of doubt about the reliability of the equipment, do not use
it before obtaining written authorization from a person who is
competent to decide on its reuse.
• Condition of the straps: no incipient fractures, no cuts, no
fraying, no wear and tear at the stitches.
• Condition of the tensioner: no oxidation or discoloration,
no wear and tear, no deformation. Verify the cleanliness of the
tensioner and its proper functioning.
• General condition: Ensure the legibility of the markings
(identification and/or validity date).
• Condition of the connectors: Non-activation of the fall
indicators, no apparent wear and tear, no traces of oxidation or
discoloration, no deformation.
USE :
- During use, regularly check the fastening and adjustment parts
of the harness and the integrated belt. These components must
be protected from any environmental stress: mechanical stress
(impacts, sharp edges, etc.), chemical stress (projection of acids,
bases, solvents, etc.), electrical stress (short-circuit, electric arcs,
etc.) or thermal stress (hot surfaces, blowtorches, etc.).
- The fall arrest system must be connected to the dorsal D-ring or
to the end of the extension strap if it has one, or to two sternal
rings simultaneously. These points are identified by the letter
A (single fastening) or A/2 (these points must be connected
together).
- Use the tape slings (#1-3) to fix the ends of the mobile safety
line around a beam or a suitable structure (endurance, absence
of sharp edge or abrasive surface). The structure must be able to
resist a stress of at least 18 kN. Connect the tape slings with the
help of the connectors of the safety line that are in compliance
with the EN362 standard (#1-4). The assembly is in compliance
with the requirements of standard EN795:2012 B+C type (Hybrid).
- In the case where EN795-compliant structural anchoring
points already exist, it is possible to connect them directly to
EN362 compliant connectors (#1-4) located at the ends of the
safety line. This setup is in compliance with the requirements of
standard EN795:2012 type C.
- The anchoring points on the structure where the safety line
will be fixed must be above the user and must be positioned
in such a manner so as to minimise both the risk of falling and
the distance of the fall. The maximum authorised angle from
the horizontal is 15°. The installation of anchor points must be
done particularly carefully and by specialists in this work. It is
recommended to have the installation verified by an inspection
body or an authorised individual.
- The table of the diagram #4 shows the results that are the
outcome of regulatory drop tests. The user must take into
account the following at the time of installation and during the
use of the mobile safety line :
• Maximum dynamic deflection (y)
• Residual deflection after the fall (x)
• Measured stress at the mobile anchor point (P)
• Measured stress at the terminal anchors of the safety line (F)
- Avoid deviating too much from the lifeline's plumb line in order
to limit the scope of a possible pendulum drop.
- After a fall, the mobile lifeline should be destroyed and replaced.
- Installation and dismantling of the equipment (#5) :
• Pos 1 : Pull the strap taut by means of the strap tensioner by
the maximum force of the user i.e. F ≥ 70 daN. Before each use,
check the proper tautness of the strap - maximum deflection of
the strap = 1/200° of the load radius.
• Pos 2 : Locking of the handle of the tensioner with a pawl in
order to prevent any maladjustment during the use of the
equipment.
• Pos 3 : Unlocking of the handle of the tensioner with a pawl for
dismantling the equipment.
- Directly connect a lanyard as per EN358 or EN354 or an energy
absorber as per EN355 to the installed safety line in compliance
with the requirements of the respective user instructions. The
connectors must be compliant to the EN362 standard.
- Connect only EN360 self-retracting fall protections and EN353-2
flexible anchor type fall protection devices that have been tested
in combination with the NLDVM lifeline.
- Caution: the NLDVM mobile safety line is designed to be used
by a maximum of 2 persons simultaneously.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE :

- A periodic inspection carried out by a competent inspector is
necessary to ensure the safety of the user, which is connected
to the maintenance of the effectiveness and resistance of the
equipment. A mandatory annual inspection will check the
condition of the equipment and it can only continue to be used
on obtaining a written agreement.
- Do not expose these products to temperatures less than -30°C
or more than +50°C.
- This equipment must not be used in any way contrary to these
specifications and under no circumstances should its limits be
exceeded.
