Dip-switch settings
The default dip switch settings for Scorpion 4, 8, and 24 DAT
drives are listed below:
•
SCSI ID 0
•
The drive reads or writes both MRS and non-MRS
4-mm media.
•
Parity checking is disabled.
•
Data compression is enabled.
•
Power-on self-test diagnostics are disabled.
The drive is shipped with SCSI termination disabled. If the
default settings are appropriate for your computer system
and you do not need to enable SCSI termination for this
drive, skip ahead to "Mounting an internal DAT drive" on page
A-13.
Changing dip-switch settings
Figure 2 on the following page shows the location of dip
switches on the underside of a Seagate internal DAT drive.
Factory-default settings for each switch are also shown in
Figure 2. Each of these settings is described in detail on the
following pages.
Note: Not all drives come with dip switches 9 and 10.
These switches are used to configure the drive for use
with UNIX operating systems, as described on page A-27
of this manual.
