Master/slave matrixes

7.6.1

Description

Matrixes in master/slave configuration refers to an installation where each slave matrix is only able to
control its local cameras and one master matrix is able to request up to 4 cameras from each slave matrix.
Each slave matrix must supply 4 OUT connections to the master matrix.
This installation configuration is useful when there is to be a centralised control location with supervision
responsibilities and a series of satellite slave positions (max 4).

Notes:
(A)
: if a video input connected to the slaves is recalled this will return a video signal at random and should
therefore be avoided by limiting master keyboard access only to valid inputs
(B)
: the OUT connectors from 5 to 8 cannot be used by the slave matrixes.
When a camera from a slave matrix is chosen the master shows a flashing <S> at the bottom right of the
screen.
7.6.2

Limitations in the choice of slave input

A slave is able to supply a maximum of 4 video signals to the master and the master operator cannot
therefore request more than 4 inputs from the slave at any one time.
There are no limitations in the choice of local cameras, whether for the master operator or for the slave
operators. If the master matrix requests more than 4 video signals from a slave, the least recent one is
replaced with the latest one to be requested.
The following example describes this situation:
7. Appendix 2: composite installations
28 with 1 slave; 24 with 2 slaves; 20 with 3 slaves; 16 with 4 slaves

Master
The monitors of the master matrix all start by
showing the same camera (camera 1 of the
master matrix)
Cameras 11 and 12 of slave1 are requested on
monitors 1 and 2 respectively. Two of the four
available video signals between slave1 and the
master are occupied.
Cameras 12, 13 and 14 are requested on
monitors 3, 4 and 5. All four slave video signals
are now occupied in supplying cameras 11, 12
(twice), 13 and 14.
When a new video signal is requested from
slave1 the least recent, i.e. camera 11, is lost. All
monitors that were using camera 11 will have it
replaced with the latest request (camera 15).
