APPENDIX 1: EXCLUDING VIDEO INPUTS

6.1

Excluding video inputs

Normally, switching a video signal to a monitor does not affect what is shown on the other monitors. In
particular circumstances it may, however, be necessary to remove a video signal when it is controlled by a
remote position. This occurs, for example, in shopping malls or outside banks where some of the monitors
are shown to the public for deterrent purposes.
These public monitors are permanently in a switching sequence of video inputs. When a remote position
(called master) asks for a particular video input this must be removed from the switching sequence for
public monitors:
6.1.1 Video input exclusion modes
There are two ways of excluding video inputs:
•
manual mode
•
telemetry mode.
In both cases the camera is excluded only if the public monitors are in automatic switching sequence. The
master monitor is always number 1.
Exclusion does not apply to the OUT dedicated to the VCR, if present.
During exclusion the master monitor shows a warning message. This message is removed by an eventual
alarm message.
6.1.1.1 Manual mode
Manual is used when there are no pan & tilt cameras or when the telemetry receivers are directly
controlled by the keyboards:

In the example the master monitor shows a
switching sequence on inputs 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The public monitor shows inputs 1 and 2.
Camera 1 frames the zone including the public
monitor.
During active control of video input 1 we
recommend removing the input itself from the
switching sequence on the public monitor.
In this case it has been replaced by input 5,
called substitute camera.
