PROBLEM
THE MOTOR WILL NOT START
The extension cord is not securely connected to the unit or power
source
The GFCI in the outlet has tripped (if used)
The breaker switch has tripped
The throttle lockout was not pressed
The unit is damaged
THE MOTOR LACKS POWER OR STALLS
The extension cord wire size is inadequate
THE SAW CHAIN COMES OFF THE GUIDE BAR
The saw chain tension is too loose
The guide bar and saw chain are assembled incorrectly
THE GUIDE BAR AND SAW CHAIN ARE RUNNING HOT, SMOKING OR STUCK
The saw chain tension is too tight
The chain oil reservoir is empty
The guide bar groove and oil passages are dirty
THE SAW CHAIN DOES NOT ROTATE
The saw chain tension is too tight
The guide bar and saw chain are assembled incorrectly
The guide bar and saw chain are damaged
The drive assembly is damaged
THE SAW CHAIN ROTATES, BUT DOES NOT CUT
The saw chain is dull
The saw chain is on backwards

TROUBLESHOOTING

If further assistance is required, contact an authorized service dealer.
SOLUTION
Make sure each plug is securely connected
Reset the GFCI
Reset the breaker switch in the home electrical panel
Press and hold the throttle lockout before squeezing the throttle control
Refer to Service information
Use an extension cord with the necessary wire size. Refer to the
wire size table in the Safety section.
Adjust the saw chain tension
Refer to Removing and Installing the Guide Bar and Saw Chain
Adjust the saw chain tension
Refill the chain oil reservoir
Clean the guide bar and oil passages
Adjust the saw chain tension
Refer to Removing and Installing the Guide Bar and Saw Chain
Inspect the guide bar and saw chain for damage. Replace them if
necessary
Refer to Service information
Sharpen or replace the saw chain
Check and correct the saw chain direction
