Important note on EVO models
EVO versions only are equipped with a photocatalysis module, shown in the image below, which
consists of a titanium dioxide (TiO2) catalyst that is effective against pollutants, unpleasant odours
and pathogenic micro-organisms, a UV-C lamp, essential for starting the process, and a special
electronically-controlled transformer for its management.
The photocatalysis module is effective against pollutants, unpleasant odours and pathogenic micro-organisms:
in a nutshell, irradiation of the titanium dioxide-based catalyst by ultraviolet light triggers the release of OH* free
radicals whose strongly oxidising action is the basis of the purification and sanitisation process. Atmospheric
pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO)
and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are converted into compounds with greatly reduced toxicity levels,
as in the case of nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which are converted into NO3.
Similarly, VOCs, a category of compounds including formaldehyde and acetone, which are among the main
culprits of unpleasant odours in closed environments, are decomposed and transformed into harmless
substances such as CO2 and water. In the case of pathogenic micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses,
the effect of the oxidising action is to damage the outer protective coating and consequently interrupt the
reproductive chain consisting of RNA or DNA, as the case may be.
In particular, the efficacy of the Dust Free technology underlying the photocatalysis module used in the EVO
versions of DEPURO SKY and DEPURO SKY EASY against the Sars-CoV-2 virus, responsible for the COVID-
19 pandemic, has been proven by tests conducted at the "Luigi Sacco" Department of Biomedical and Clinical
Sciences of the University of Milan.
