2. INTRODUCTION

2.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

WELDKAR TIG 1660 DC/HF PULSE
The Weldkar TIG 1660 DC/HF Pulse with a 230 Volt
power supply offers all the functions a professional
TIG welder can wish for. HF ignition, up and downslope
regulation, 2 - 4 stroke, gas after flow and pulse
frequency regulation. In particular the pulse frequency
regulation is essential for welding work on thin-walled
stainless steel. In addition, the amp rating is steplessly
adjustable, and clearly visible on the electronic display.
With its high power output (160 A) and high welding
duty (60%), this machine is suitable for long intensive
use for welding steel, stainless steel, titanium, bronze,
etc., for on-location welding jobs and in the workshop.
As well as for TIG welding, the device is also suitable for
use with coated electrodes (MMA) up to 3.25 mm of the
type rutile, alkaline or stainless steel. And the entire unit
weighs just 7 kg!
This machine is fitted with a handy adjustable carrying
strap, and is supplied complete in a solid case with
accessories, including a 4-metre TIG torch, 4-metre
earthing cable with earth terminal, 2.4-mm TIG torch
components and 4-metre welding cable with electrode
holder.
The machine enjoys protection class IP 23 S (splash
waterproof) and EMC protection.
The weld inverter is supplied as standard with a:
-
WK TIG 1660 DC/HF Pulse Inverter Power source
-
Electrode holder with 4-metre welding cable and
DIN Plug

2.4 THERMAL PROTECTION

This inverter is protected by a thermostat. When the
thermostat is tripped, the machine stops delivering
current but the fan continues to run. The yellow led
(12) lights to indicate when it is tripped.
Do not shut off the welding machine until the led has
gone off.

2.5 MOTOR-DRIVEN GENERATORS

These must have a power equal to or greater than
6KVA, and must not deliver a voltage greater than 265V.
2.6 PROTECTION AGAINST SHORT-CIRCUITS
(ANTISTICK)
If a short-circuit occurs lasting more than two seconds
when welding with coated electrodes, the current is
reduced to harmless levels.
