Indication

INDICATION:
Significant to full impairment of mobility/walking in the
case of structural and/or functional damage to the lower
extremities (including amputation, after-effects of injuries,
musculoskeletal/neuromusculoskeletal movement dis-
orders) and inability to independently use a wheelchair
(e.g. in the case of limited strength and grip function or a
lack of coordination ability of the arms/hands).
For short-term use as a transport wheelchair indoors and
outdoors (nursing facilities, hotel, airport, train station,
etc.) by an assistant/caregiver.
CONTRAINDICATION:
Only for D-Lite 12.5": Push wheelchairs are suitable for
outdoor use only to a limited degree. Due to the rear
wheels which are smaller in comparison to push-rim
wheelchairs, it is more difficult to get over obstacles such
as curbs.

Safety instructions

To ensure proper and safe use, please be sure to ob-
serve the following information:
Use the transport wheelchair only on even and firm sur-
faces.
Stability and balance
Your transport wheelchair is designed such that it en-
sures the stability you need during normal daily activi-
ties. Each of your movements in the transport wheelchair
has an effect on the center of gravity which in the worst
case can lead to tipping of the transport wheelchair. To
increase your safety, you must use the safety belt.
Reaching an object beyond the chair
The balance limits for reaching an object were deter-
mined through studies on a representative group of
wheelchair users. Only the arms should be extended
out beyond the wheelchair seat. The body and the head
should remain within the limits of the seat.
Do not lean forward
Do not lean your chest over the armrest. To reach an
object in front of you, you must lean forward and bend
downwards. For this reason, you must use the steering
wheels as an aid (by facing them forwards) in order to
attain stability and balance. Accurate orientation of the
wheels is important for your safety.

Do not lean back
Position the transport wheelchair as close as possible
to the desired object so that you can easily reach it with
outstretched arms while you remain seated in the chair
in a normal position. Do not lean back too far over the
backrest in any case since you can otherwise cause the
chair to tip over.
Lateral transfer
This transfer can be performed alone, provided you have
appropriate mobility and muscle tone.
Position the transport wheelchair as close as possible to
the place where you wish to sit such that the steering
wheels are pointing forwards. Secure the parking brakes
of the rear wheels.
Use a transfer board, if possible.
Forward transfer
If you are able to stand up, you can transfer yourself for-
wards to another seat. If this movement is difficult for you,
we recommend obtaining assistance from an attendant
or caregiver to ensure a transfer that is as easy and safe
as possible.
Secure both brakes and ensure that both steering wheels
are pointing forwards. In doing so, be aware that you
should not under any circumstances support yourself on
the brakes during the transfer.
Swivel the footrests out of the way. Then grasp the top
of the armrests, support yourself on your arms in order to
easily get up and the attendant can assist you in complet-
ing the transfer.
Never stand on the footrests and never use the footrests
as assistance when getting up.
Tilting, overcoming obstacles with an attendant
Getting up onto the sidewalk
The attendant positions the transport wheelchair facing
forward in front of the sidewalk. He/she then tilts the
transport wheelchair backwards towards him-/herself un-
til the steering wheels reach up onto the sidewalk; he/
she pushes the transport wheelchair forward until the
rear wheels are at the edge of the curb and pushes the
transport wheelchair further until the rear wheels roll over
the edge of the curb.
Getting down off the sidewalk
The attendant positions the transport wheelchair facing
forward with the steering wheels at the edge of the curb
and tilts it backwards towards him-/herself. Then he/she
carefully pushes the transport wheelchair forwards until
the rear wheels touch the street, then he/she gradually
lowers the steering wheels to the ground.
