3 - FITTING

3.1. Preparation for installation

3.1.1. Precautions to take.
The ENERGIX power module has been
dimensioned to be suitable for the
maximum powers consumed by the ALM
operating lighting systems. Like any
electronic product, its reliability over a
period of time is related to its operating
temperature: it is therefore of prime
importance during its installation to limit
the line losses (cable lengths and
diameters) and to ensure that it has
correct cooling (appropriate choice of
cabinet).
3.1.2. Reservations
Mounting cabinets one above the other
should be avoided for obvious reasons
related to cooling.
Before any fitting of terminal strips or wiring
the module, it is always necessary to check
the possibility of reaching the Vmax
adjustment potentiometer.
3.1.3. Primary cables
The primary powers are equal to the
secondary powers to within the
efficiency limits (approx. / 0.9). A
PRX4000 will be able to consume up to
150 W (0.7A at 220V or 1.4A at 110V),
a PRX6000 up to 260W (1,1A at 220V
or 2,3A at 110V), a PRX8000 up to
380 W (1.7A at 220V or 3.4 A at 110V)
depending on the installations.
We therefore recommend the use of
cables of 3*2.5mm in copper marked
2
and/or coloured according to current
national standards. The darkest colour
is the phase (brown in Europe), the
lightest color is the neutral wire (blue in
Europe).
On the one hand a two-pole contact-
breaker 15A certifié par les normes
nationales applicables (NF, VDE, UL,
...), placed upstream of the installation
will make possible to completely switch
off the primary of the installed supply
so that maintenance interventions can
be carried out in total safety.
On the other hand, electrical safety also
demands that the module has to be
connected to earth, only one fuse on
the phase, and the installation of collars
around the primary wires on entry into
the terminal strip.
In order to reduce as much as possible
the interference conducted on the mains,
the primary cables are wound once
around a ferrite which can be clipped in
front of the terminal strip. The rejection
of harmonics on the mains is limited
electronically by means of a patented
filtering process (Power Factor Converter
useless).
