"Soft Start" mode is provided to start the pump after a protracted
stop. This allows a better grease distribution in the bearings. To
enable the "Soft Start" mode it must be activated by the suitable
software or Remote I/O command (see the paragraphs
"INTERCONNECTIONS" and "RS 232/485 COMMUNICATION
DESCRIPTION" in the appendix "Technical Information"). The
system is provided with a green status led signal.
The green LED located on the Turbo-V 750/850 TwisTorr Pumping
System base front panel indicates with its flashing frequency the
system operating conditions:
When power is supplied and factory default 15 pin mating connector is
WARNING!
inserted, the Turbo-V 750/850 TwisTorr Pumping System will start
automatically.
The controller is furnished already mechanically and electrically connected to the
CAUTION!
pump. Detaching of the controller from the pump must be carried out by
authorized Agilent Vacuum Technologies personnel only.
When you run the Turbo-V 750/850 TwisTorr Pumping System after a protracted

stop, the special SOFT START function must be activated before starting the
pump (see the annex "Technical Information"). The system is launched step by
step at full speed in a time of about 35 minutes. After the system has reached
the full speed, the soft start procedure can be disabled and the following starts
can be performed in the normal way.

Use of Turbo-V 750/850 TwisTorr Pumping System
with no flashing: the pump is normally rotating;
slowly flashing (period of about 400 ms): the system is in ramp,
or in braking, or in Stop, or in "Waiting for interlock" status;
fast flashing (period of about 200 ms): error condition.
