any work (e.g. changing the stirrer) on the high-
speed mixer.

Î Do not process liquids or materials with unknown
hazard potential.
Î Observe the instructions for use issued by the
manufacturer of the material to be stirred.
Î When processing plastics, paints, varnishes and
similar materials, do not work near flammable
gases or materials.

Place the container with the material to be stirred
in a firm, stable position.
•
Choose stirrers suitable for the material to be
mixed.
•
1 Mount the stirrer, screw the stirrer into the tool
holder (1) up to the limit stop:
•
Switch on the machine at the ON / OFF switch
and set the speed or gear; if empirical values are
not available, start with the lowest speed or the
1st gear.
•
Select the gear:
1 / 2 Set the speed (see technical spec-
f
ifications, page 22) at the gear change
knob (2).
NOTE
Changing gear while the machine is running can
cause damage to the drill.
Wait for the machine to completely stop.

Switch on the PRCD switch; only for the
BSM 2868 – 110 V high­speed mixer.
•
Immerse the stirrer in the material to be mixed.
•
1 Use the ON / OFF switch (5) to start the motor.
•
In case of low-viscosity media, immerse the
stirrer completely and start.
f Increase the speed if necessary.
•
In case of high-viscosity media, immerse the
stirrer by half and at an angle and start.
f Select a low speed.
•
After ending the mixing process, pull the stirrer
out of the material to be mixed as the stirrer runs
down.

Cleaning

The machine must be cleaned after each work
session.

Carefully clean the machine and blow out with
compressed air.
•
Ensure handles are dry and free from grease.

Maintenance

Î Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out
any work on the high-speed mixer.
The high-speed mixer must be serviced at least once
a year. Further, servicing will be necessary depend-
ing on the wear of the carbon brushes.
Only servicing and repair firms authorised by
Maschinenfabrik OTTO BAIER GmbH may carry out
maintenance of the machine. Also ensure that origi-
nal BAIER spare parts and original BAIER accesso-
ries only are used.

Recycle the machine and its packaging in
an environmentally friendly way in accord-
ance with the provisions applicable in your
country.
