FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:
General: It is very important that the points of contact between the tow
bar and the vehicle are cleaned of any glue residue. After either war-
ming the spots with a blow dryer or applying a paint stripper, the glue
can easily be removed using a putty knife. While fitting the tow bar
assembly, tighten all connectors only finger-tight. Only after assembly
is complete, should you tighten all nuts and bolts to the torque indica-
ted in the manual.
1. Remove the sticker/ glue (cross –chassis) on the rear right hand and
the bottom left and right of the vehicle. Attention! The sticker can be
found under the anti-corrosion layer. At the holes G, position the cage
nuts A in the back panel (cross chassis). Also remove the protective cap
under the left-hand side.
2. Place mounting plate B and attach it finger-tight at point C with one
M10x105 bolt including spacer D(ø18x11 L=54mm), backplate E and
spring washer. Position fixing bracket F against the back panel (cross
chassis) and fasten finger-tight at point G using one M8x30 bolt, inclu-
ding spring and flat washers. Attach one M8x30 bolt, including flat was-
her, large flat washer (ø28x9x 3mm) and self-locking nut finger-tight at
point H. At points I, attach two M10x35 bolts finger-tight including spring
washers, flat washers and nuts.
3. Attach angle section K finger-tight at hole N underneath the cross mem-
ber, as indicated in the sketch, using one M8x30 bolt, including spring
and flat washers.
4. Place mounting plate L and attach it finger-tight at point M with one
M10x105 bolt including spacer D(ø18x11 L=54mm), backplate E and
spring washer. Fit two M10x35 bolts including spring washer, flat was-
her and nut at points Q.
5. Place the cross member at holes P underneath the cross member as
shown in the sketch using two M8x30 bolts, including spring and flat
washers. Then attach the cross member at points R, with mounting
plate B in-between, to the angle section K using two M12x45 bolts inclu-
ding flat, spring washers and nut/weld nut.
6. Place the ball hitch between the ball mounting plates and attach at
points O, with the socket plate in-between (on the last hole), using two
M12x75/31.2 bolts including flat washers and self-locking nuts. After
aligning the tow bar, tighten all nuts and bolts to the torque indicated in
the table. Before tightening the fastening materials to the torque indica-
ted in the table, you must make sure that the tow bar is flush with the
chassis. First tighten the fasteners at points G and H to the torque indi-
cated in the table. Tighten the remaining fastener to the torque indica-
ted in the table. Replace the plastic protective cap. Warning! Before
doing this, part of the cap needs to be sawn off to ensure the correct fit.
NOTE:
* The dealer should be consulted for possible necessary adjustment(s)
"of the vehicle".
* Remove the insulating material from the contact area of the fitting
points.
* All bolts are quality 8.8 - nuts 8. or when mentioned in fitting instructions
10.9 / 10.
* Don't forget the spring- and plain washers.
* Consult your dealer for the maximum tolerated pull weight and ball
hitch pressure of your vehicle.
* It is recommendable to retighten all fixing bolts and nuts after the towbar
has been in use for some 1000 km/600 miles.
* Do not drill through brake-or fuellines.
* Remove (if present) the plastic caps from the spot welding nuts.
