Warning:
− Do not route high voltage cables next to any sharp metal components and take care to
avoid sharp bends and kinks in the cable.
− Metal parts near the charging bars, including the machine frame, must be earthed.
5.2.3 Assembly of high voltage plug
Figure 1
Figure 2
Depending on the high voltage power unit used, a 30 kV plug (fig. 1A) or a 60 kV plug (fig. 1B) is
fitted to the charging bar connection cable.
If a high voltage cable with a PA protective sleeve (standard) is used, the screw cap supplied with
the plug unit is not used. The function of the screw cap is assumed by the gland, which is fitted to
the PA protective sleeve.
Fit the plug in accordance with figure 2.
1. Only for 30 kV plug assembly: shorten high voltage cable (3) 45 mm.
2. Strip high voltage cable 15 mm. Bend cores double and do not twist.
3. Only for 60 kV plug assembly: slide the adapter pipe (2) over the cable.
4. Slide the 30 kV pipe (1) over the cable
5. Slide the metal contact bush (4) over the cable until it abuts the cable insulation.
6. Slide the pipe (1) back over the contact bush, so that the screw hole in the contact bush and the
cable guide are visible through the hole in the pipe.
7. Screw the adjusting screw (5) through the pipe in the metal contact bush so that the whole is
securely attached to the cable. The adjusting screw must be at the same height as or below the
surface of the pipe.
8. Tighten the contact spring (6) with the closed end against the metal contact bush.
9. Check that the plug is securely attached to the cable. Refit it if necessary.
