12 TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
The machine does not switch on.
The pump is very noisy.
Coff ee is not spilling out after
turning the selection knob (15)
to the " " position.
Coff ee is too cold.
The milk does not froth.
It is not possible to prepare a cap-
puccino.
Coff ee is brewed too fast, crema
does not form.
Coff ee does not come out or drips
only.
Coff ee fl ows out of the edges.
Please contact an authorised service centre for any problems not covered in the above table or when the suggested
solutions do not solve the problem.
Possible Causes
The machine is not connected to the electric
network.
No water in the tank.
Filter holder is clogged.
The "machine ready" light (18) was off while
switching the selection knob (15) to the "
" position.
The fi lter holder is not inserted for preheat-
ing (chapter 5).
The cups are cold.
Unsuitable milk: powdered milk, low-fat milk. Use whole milk.
There is no more steam in the boiler.
There is too little coff ee in the fi lter holder.
The grind is too coarse.
Coff ee is old or not suitable.
The pod is old or not suitable.
Missing component in the fi lter holder.
No water.
The grind is too fi ne.
Coff ee tamped in the fi lter holder.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter holder. Reduce the quantity of coff ee in the fi lter holder.
Knob (3) is open.
The machine has limescale build-up.
The fi lter in the fi lter holder is clogged.
The fi lter holder is not correctly inserted in
the brew unit.
The upper rim of the fi lter holder is dirty.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter holder.
Solution
Connect the machine to the electric network.
Fill the water tank and prime the circuit again (section 4.5).
Turn the selection knob (15) back to the " " position.
Turn the machine off and let it cool down (approx. 1
hour). Then remove and wash the fi lter holder thor-
oughly. If the problem persists, contact the service
centre.
Wait until the light (18) turns on.
Preheat the fi lter holder.
Preheat the cups with hot water.
Prime the circuit (section 4.5) and repeat the steps de-
scribed in chapter 8.
Add coff ee (chapter 5).
Use a diff erent blend (chapter 6).
Use a diff erent blend (chapter 6).
Change the pod.
Make sure that all the components are present and
properly installed.
Fill the water tank and prime the circuit again (section 4.5).
Use a diff erent blend (chapter 6).
Shake the ground coff ee.
Close the knob (3).
Descale the machine (chapter 10).
Clean the fi lter (chapter 9).
Insert the fi lter holder correctly (chapter 5).
Clean the rim of the fi lter holder.
Reduce the quantity of coff ee using the measuring
scoop.
