3 Applications
The
high-resolution
TVCCD-166SCOL and the corresponding power sup-
ply unit are specially designed for use in video surveil-
lance systems. The one-cable technique only requires
a single coaxial cable for connecting the camera to the
power supply unit as the coaxial cable allows both
power supply and video signal transmission.
The cameras are weatherproof (IP 68) and also
suitable for outdoor use. The power supply unit, how-
ever, must always be operated indoors.
The cameras are provided with an automatic gain
control (AGC) and an automatic electronic shutter

s). They are also equipped with a back-

light compensation and an automatic white balance
(range 2400 K to 11 000 K).
The cameras are suitable for infrared. TVCCD-
166SCOL has a day/ night function, i. e. if the bright-
ness falls below 2 lux, the camera is automatically
switched to black-and-white display.
4 Mounting
1) Mount the supplied bracket or, if required, another
bracket with 6.3 mm (
tion.
2) Release the locking screw (7) of the bracket so that
the threaded bolt (4) is freely movable and can be
screwed into one of the two thread jacks (2) on the
camera by means of the knurled nut (5). If the pic-
ture is displayed upside down after setting the cam-
era into operation, use the other thread jack. Due to
the cylindrical shape of the camera, it is not possi-
ble to know beforehand which way the camera
must be mounted.
3) Coarsely align the camera and fix it by fastening the
locking screw (7). Precise alignment is not possible
until the camera is set into operation.
4) Place the sunshield, if required, and screw it down.
In case of ceiling suspension, it is also possible to
use the 6.3 mm thread of the sunshield for fasten-
ing the camera to the bracket.
5 Setting the Camera into Operation
1) For power supply, the camera requires a constant
current of 100 mA (also see label "Constant Current
100 mA" on the camera and the power supply unit).
When manufacturing the unit, this current has been
adjusted with the switches (12) on the power supply
unit. Prior to setting into operation check if the
switches are still in the correct position:
100mA
An incorrect adjustment may cause damage.

2) Connect the cable (3) of the camera to the jack TO
CAMERA (14) of the power supply unit. The length
of the cable is 30 m. In case of a high-quality cable,
the maximum length may be 500 m:

RG-58U
RG-59U
RG-6U
The MONACOR cable VCC-59 is suitable for a
maximum length of 350 m.
3) Connect the video output VIDEO OUT TO MONI-
TOR (13) of the power supply unit via a 75 Ω coax-
ial cable to the video input jack of the monitor or a
camera switcher or video splitter. Observe the cor-
rect 75 Ω termination.
4) Connect the plug of the mains cable (10) to a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz) and switch on the power
supply unit with the POWER switch (9). The power
LED (8) will light up.
5) Switch on the connected monitor as well, then pre-
cisely align the camera to the surveillance zone. If
the picture is displayed upside down, turn the cam-
era by 180° before mounting it.
