7.0 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE

Maintenance is required when wear or leakage is
noticed. Periodically inspect all components to
detect any problem requiring service and
maintenance. ENERPAC offers ready-to-use spare
parts kits for repair and/or replacements.
To protect your warranty, use only ENERPAC
hydraulic oil. For some hand pumps, sealing sets
(Viton and EPR) can be supplied. For more
information on the products and the various options
for use, contact your ENERPAC representative.
7.1 Refilling oil
Check the oil level regularly.
WARNING: The cylinders must be either
completely 'in' (or 'out' in the case of pull
cylinders) when you change the oil,
otherwise you run the risk of adding more
oil than the reservoir can comfortably hold.
1. Remove the cap of the reservoir.
2. Fill the reservoir to the correct level.
3. If necessary, vent the air lines. See the section
on venting. Check the oil level again after the
venting.
4. Mount the cap on the reservoir.
Remarks: in unvented hand pumps there must be
air in the reservoir for the system to function
properly. If the reservoir is completely filled a
vacuum effect arises, which means that the oil can
no longer flow out of the pump.
7.2 Protecting the lines against dirt
When you disconnect the coupler halves, always
cover the two halves with a dust cap. Take all
necessary precautions to prevent dirt from entering.
Dirt can adversely affect the functioning of the
pump, the cylinder or the valves.
7.3 Lubricating the pump (Figure 3)
In order to prolong the service life of the pump and
to improve its performance, regularly lubricate the
shafts of the plunger rods (A and B), the transverse
shaft (C) and the plunger head (D) with roller
bearing grease.

7.4 Draining off the oil

Change the oil every 12 months (drain off and refill
with ENERPAC oil). If the pump is being used in an
exceptionally dirty environment, the oil must be
changed more frequently.
1. Remove the filler cap of the reservoir.
2. Tilt the pump to allow the used oil to run out.
3. Fill the reservoir to the correct level.
4. Vent the air lines. See § 6.4 on venting.
Check the oil level again after the venting.
5. Mount the filler cap on the reservoir.
6. Dispose of the used oil in the appropriate manner.

only be serviced by a qualified hydraulic
technician.
