3.3 Surface temperature

The next parameter in the range of temperature
measurements is the surface temperature.
The sensor for measuring the surface
temperature is located at the very top of the
instrument and has a metal tip.
The metal tip is to be placed against the
surface, preferably at an angle of 90°, and kept
into this position until the measured value
remains stabile.
A light contact with the surface is sufficient. DO
NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE! Pushing the probe
with force is not improving the speed of
measurement nor the accuracy but may lead to
wear or damage of the sensor-tip.
Up to approx. 60°C / 140°F the resolution is in
0.1° C/F, above this temperature the resolution
is in 1.0° C/F.
The surface-temperature signal is visible and
the measured value appears in the large field.

3.4 Dewpoint temperature

The next step in the range is the calculated
dewpoint temperature, which is derived from the
ambient-temperature and the relative humidity.
Surfaces with a temperature below this
dewpoint-temperature will be covered with
condensation/moisture.
The dewpoint-temperature symbol is visible and
the measured value appears in the large field.
3.5 Delta-T
The next parameter in the range is the delta-T
which is calculated by subtracting the dewpoint-
temperature from the surface-temperature.
Once this value is less than 3°C the instrument
gives an acoustical and visual alarm (the "Alarm"
symbol appears and the backlight starts
flashing).
The Delta-T temperature symbol is visible and
the measured value appears in the large field.

3.6 Date / Time

The latest parameter in the range is date and
time.
Time is presented in the small field in 24.00
hour format, date is mentioned in the text field
and is presented in day/month/year or month/
day/year format depending on the choice
between C° or F° units.
Other parameters are not visible in this screen.

3.7 Alarm

The instrument gives an ALARM when the delta-
T is less than 3°C. In this situation it is quit
risky to paint as the slightest change in climate
conditions may cause condensation on the
surface.
As soon as an alarm situation is reached the
display illumination flashes for about 6 seconds
and also an acoustical alarm is heard for that
same period. The ALARM symbol appears in the
display and remains there as long as the delta_T
stays too low.
