Dispersion tools: General notes

Overview (Fig. 2), (Fig. 3), (Fig. 4)
Shaft:
The shaft mainly consists of the shaft tube, the rotary shaft, the bearing
and the shaft seal. There are three types of shaft for the ULTRA-
TURRAX® T 50 basic:
S 50 N - / S 50 KR - / S 50 KG-HH -
and two additional agitating and mixing tools:
R 50 - Rührwelle / S 50 TT - W 40 TT
The shaft cannot be used alone. Only combinations of shaft and generator
can be used for working with the medium. The shaft is supplied with a cap
(remove before use). Use this cap to protect shaft tubes from damage
when not in service.
Generator:
The generator (dispersion head) consists of a rotor and a stator. These
parts can be unscrewed from the shaft. Note that rotors and stators form
matching pairs and must not be confused. Nine different dispersion heads
are available for various applications:.
- G 40 G
/ - G 45 G
- G 40 M
/ - G 45 M
- G 40 F
/ - G 45 F
- W 65 SK / - W 80 SMK
The dispersion tools you have ordered (e.g. S 50 N - G 45 G) are always
supplied fully assembled. Never run dispersion tools dry, as the gasket and
bearings will be destroyed if the tools are not cooled by the medium.

Dispersion tool S 50 N -

Overview (Fig. 4)
The bearing of the S 50 N - shaft is a friction bearing. This friction bearing
18
is made of PTFE. The shaft has a dispersion head added when it leaves the
factory.
The dispersion tool can be disassembled for cleaning as described below:
• Unscrew the rotor (21) and blade (22) from the rotary shaft (2001)
using the generator and shaft wrenches included in the tool kit. The
generator wrench is used to hold the rotor while unscrewing it by
turning the shaft from above with the shaft wrench.
Caution: The dispersion head G 45 G has two prominent blades.
• Unscrew the stator (20) from the shaft (8) (left-hand thread). Insert
the cross pin (3mm) of the shaft wrench into the slot on the end face
of the shaft tube. The stator can now be unscrewed by turning it in
the clockwise direction with the generator wrench.
• Pull the rotary shaft (2001) down and out of the shaft tube. The
components (5, 10 and 11) threaded onto the shaft can simply be
pulled off.
• The bearing bushing (5) must be replaced if it is worn.
Reassemble the dispersion tool in the reverse sequence. When
assembling ensure that the bearing bushing and the rotor are correctly
installed.
