5 Winter lay-up

The tank, pipes, pump, etc. must always be drained completely.
5.1 Draining the pressurized water system
• Open a tap so that the pump will run; let the pump continue to
run for about 30 seconds after the tank is empty.
• Disconnect the power to the pump.
5.2 Anti-freeze
Never fill the drinking water system with anti-freeze to protect it
against freezing unless a safe non-toxic anti-freeze for potable water
is available. Most anti-freezes are very poisonous!
Flush the drinking water system thoroughly at the start of the sum-
mer season, if a non-toxic anti-freeze for potable water has been
used to protect the system during the winter.

7 Problem solving

Problem
Motor runs but there is no flow
of water.
Motor does not run
Pump continues to run after all
taps have been closed.
Pump cycles while tap is closed. Leak in the system.
Low pump capacity or pressure. Dirt in inlet filter.
Pump leaks.
Noisy or rough operation.
DWSC Drinking water tank systems 42, 61, 88 and 120 litres
Disconnect the power and drain the system before beginning work on the pump!
Possible cause
Empty water tank
Inlet / outlet tube restriction.
Strainer clogged with debris.
Leak in the suction pipe.
No power on pump circuit.
Loose or corroded electrical connections.
Short circuit in wiring.
Thermal protection of motor has been activated
(motor is too hot).
Faulty motor.
Faulty pressure switch.
Locked drive.
Empty water tank
Faulty pressure switch.
Incorrect voltage.
Air trapped in system.
Leak in outlet tubing.
Worn wobble plate.
Worn diaphragm.
Inlet / outlet tube restriction.
Inlet air leak.
Faulty pressure switch.
Incorrect voltage.
Loose fasteners.
Pump seals degraded.
Leak in diaphragm.
Loose pump head.
Rigid plumbing.
6 Maintenance
Check the breather nipple regularly and clean the sieve of the breath-
er nipple if necessary. Check the hoses and hose connections for pos-
sible leaks annually and fit new hoses and/or hose clamps as neces-
sary.
Also check the tank for damage as a result of chafing. Replace a dam-
aged tank immediately.
Carry out the disinfection procedures described under 'Use' at the be-
ginning of the sailing season.
A tank and installation that is strongly contaminated by algae can be
cleaned by rinsing the tank, the pump and pipes with chlorine water.

Solution
Fill the tank or disconnect the power to the pump.
Remove restriction.
Clean strainer.
Tighten the hose clamps and check the fittings.
Check wiring, fuse or circuit breaker.
Check the electrical connections.
Check condition of wires.
Wait until there is an automatic reset.
Replace pump.
Replace pressure switch assembly.
Replace pump.
Refill.
Tighten leaking hose clamps / fittings.
Replace pressure switch assembly.
Check voltage (± 10 %).
Open a tap as close to the pump as possible.
Check plumbing for leakage.
Remove cover and clean filter.
Replace pump.
Replace pump.
Remove restriction.
Tighten fittings / Replace cracked fittings.
Replace pressure switch assembly.
Check voltage (± 10 %)
