4.5 Adding Abrasive
1. Remove the base grate (Figure 5).
2. Add abrasive (Figure 10). Approx. 5 kg (+/- 2 kg)
3. Reinsert the base grate (Figure 5).
Use only clean, dry abrasive with the appro-
priate grain size (refer to the accessories
list). We recommend an abrasive with a
grain size of 125 - 250 µm [115 - 60 mesh].
Max. grain size: 500 µm [32 mesh].
4.6 Installing the Fluorescent
Lamp
The unit must still be disconnected from the
mains power supply!
1. Insert the fl uorescent lamp horizontally
(Figure 11).
2. Remove the foil strip from both ends of the lamp
cover (Figure 12).
3. Secure the lamp cover with two knurled nuts
(Figure 13).
4.7 Starting the Unit
Illumination
1. Connect one end of the power cord to the unit
(Figure 14) and plug the other end into the wall
outlet (Figure 15).
2. Switch the lamp on (Figure 16).
4.8 Connection to the Dust
Extractor
Push the extraction hose onto the extractor connec-
tion (Figure 17-a). An extraction hose is not included
in the standard Vario Basic delivery package.

5. Operation
5.1 Device Selection
The Vario basic is delivered without micro sandblas-

Vario basic is delivered without micro sandblas-
ting tanks but is fully ready to be outfi tted with up to
2 micro sandblasting tanks. Further, an additional
device operating with compressed air can also be
connected to the unit.
Device selection (recyclable sandblaster, left or right
sandblasting tank, additional compressed air device)
is made using the selector switch in the blasting
chamber (Figure 8):
(1) Recyclable blasting;
(2) Left micro sandblasting tank (optional);
(3) Right micro sandblasting tank (optional);
(4) Additional compressed air device (optional).
Sandblasting continues as long as the foot switch is
depressed (Figure 18). A small amount of abrasive
continues to fl ow once the foot switch is released.
Please use the provided gloves when sand-
blasting.
The cloth hand port cuffs do not need to be removed.
Do not operate the unit if the viewing pane
is open.
5.2 Positioning the Blasting
Nozzle
Nozzle distance and nozzle angle can be adjusted
separately (Figure 19).

1. Loosen the upper and lower knurled nuts on the
retainer (Figure 19-b).
2. Adjust the nozzle to the desired angle.
3. Retighten the screw (Figure 19-b).
5.3 Adjusting the Extraction
Power
If extraction power is insuffi cient, you can increase it
by covering the opening on the back of the unit with a
piece of tape (Figure 17-b).

6.1 Installing Micro
Sandblasting Tanks
The installation of the additional tanks is described in
a separate set of instructions included with the tanks.
6.2 Connecting Other Devices
The various devices are connected to the connectors
on the back of the unit (Figure 20):
