Product description

Magnetic field sensors in the BMF 415 family are immune
from magnetic interference and have been designed for
application in pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders having a
5 mm T-slot. They are used in welding field applications
(AC and MFDC equipment).
The sensors are able to detect interfering magnetic fields
caused by high welding currents. The sensors have been
tested in AC magnetic interference fields at a frequency
range of 45...65 Hz and with AC and DC magnetic fields of
up to 140 mT, corresponding to 110 kA/m. When the
sensor detects such an interference field, a suppression
time (t ) is waited. During this time the output signal

remains unchanged. The output retains the state which it
assumed before detecting the magnetic interference field.
The suppression time (t ) is preset to 600 ms and can be

user set to a range between 50 ms and 1000 ms over
IO-Link.

The magnetic field flux when rapidly moving the
pickup magnet as the pneumatic and hydraulic
cylinders are opened and closed behaves
similar to weld currents in MFDC equipment.
This means it can happen that the suppression
time (t ) is triggered upon opening and closing
DSD
of the pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. The
sensor only switches the output after the
suppression time (t ) has elapsed. This does
DSD
not represent a malfunction.
