5 Locking Lever
Secures the battery in the battery compart‐
ment.
6 Control Handle
For operating, controlling and carrying the
blower.
7 Ergo Lever
Holds release slide in position when trigger is
released.
8 Release Slide
Unlocks the trigger.
9 Trigger
The trigger switches the blower on and off.
10 Battery
Supplies power to the blower.
11 Button
Activates the LEDs on the battery.
12 LEDs
Indicate battery's state of charge and mal‐
functions.

Symbols
Meanings of symbols that may be on the blower
and battery:
1 LED glows red. Battery too hot or too
cold.
4 LEDs flash red. There is a malfunc‐
tion in the battery.
Guaranteed sound power level accord‐

ing to directive 2000/14/EC in dB(A) in
WA
order to make sound emissions of
products comparable.
The data next to this symbol indicates the
energy content of the battery according to
the cell manufacturer's specification. The
energy content available during operation
is lower.
Do not dispose of the product with your
household waste.

4.1

Warning Symbols

The warning symbols on the blower or the bat‐
tery have the following meanings:
Observe safety notices and take the
necessary precautions.

Read, understand and keep the User
Manual.
Wear safety glasses.
Observe the safety advice concerning
flying objects and associated meas‐
ures.
Tie back long hair and confine it so that
it cannot be pulled into the blower.
Remove the battery during work stop‐
pages, transport, storage, maintenance
or repair.
Maintain a safety distance.

Protect battery from heat and fire.
Do not immerse battery in fluids.
Observe the permitted battery temper‐
ature range.

Intended use

The blower STIHL BGA 86 is designed for blow‐
ing leaves, grass, paper and similar materials.
The blower can be used in the rain.
The blower takes its energy supply from a
STIHL AP battery or a STIHL AR battery.
WARNING
■ Batteries not approved by STIHL for the
blower can cause fires and explosions. This
can result in serious injuries or death and
damage to property.
► Operate the blower with a STIHL AP battery
or a STIHL AR battery.
■ Using the blower or battery other than for its
intended use can result in serious injuries or
death and damage to property.
► Always use the blower as described in this
Instruction Manual.
