o Set the rotary switch to the
( ) range.
o Press the FUNC. button to select the
range.
o Connect the black and red test leads to the COM and
o Connect the test leads to the capacitor being measured and read the displayed value.
o The multimeter will beep continuously with a circuit below 40 . Use the continuity test to check whether a circuit is
open/shorted.
• Diode Measurements
To avoid electrical shock and/or damage to the instrument, disconnect the circuit power and discharge
all high-voltage capacitors before testing diodes.
o Set the rotary switch to the
( ) range.
o Press the FUNC. button to select the
range.
o Connect the black and red test leads to the COM and
o Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
o The meter will show the approximate forward voltage of the diode. If the lead connection is reversed, "OL" will be displayed.
• Capacitance Measurements
To avoid electrical shock and/or damage to the instrument, disconnect the circuit power and discharge
all high-voltage capacitors before measuring capacitance. Use the DC voltage function to confirm that
the capacitor is discharged.
o Set the rotary switch to the
range.
o Connect the black and red test leads to the COM and
o Connect the test leads to the capacitor being measured and read the displayed value.
NOTE:
o The meter may take a few seconds to stabilize the reading. This is normal for high-capacitance measuring.
o To improve the accuracy of measurements less than 4nF, subtract the residual capacitance of the meter and leads.
• Frequency Measurements
Do not measure the frequency on high voltage (>750V) to avoid electrical shock hazard and/or damage
to the instrument.
o Set the rotary switch to the Hz range.
o Connect the black and red test leads to the COM and Hz terminals respectively.
o Connect the test leads across the source or load under measurement and read the displayed value.
NOTE:
o Reading is not guaranteed at input voltages above 3V RMS.
o In a noisy environment, use a shielded cable for measuring small signals.
• Temperature Measurements
Do not measure leads with a voltage more than 1,000VDC or 750VAC RMS.
o Set the rotary switch to the °C range. The LCD will display the current environment temperature.
o Connect the black and red test leads of the "K" type thermocouple to the °C and COM terminals respectively.
o Touch the object with the thermocouple probe for measurement.
o Read the LCD.
• Current Measurements
Do not measure leads with a voltage more than 1,000VDC or 750VAC RMS.
To avoid damage to the meter, check the meter's fuse before proceeding. Use the proper terminals,
function and range for your measurement.
o Set the rotary switch to the 4,000µA, the 400mA or the 10A range.
o Press the FUNC. button to select the DCA or ACA measuring mode.
