Description of function

3.5.1 Measuring principle

The turbidity sensors InPro 8600 are used for the determination of undissolved particles or
substances in solution. The sensor is designed for low to medium particle concentration range.
The measurement principle is based on light scattering. Undissolved particles, which are
crossing the light path of the sensor, are scattering the emitted light. Detectors in angles of
25° (single angle measurement) and 25° / 90° (dual angle measurement) are used to detect
the scattered light. Turbidity values are calculated based on the ratio between scattered light and
direct light and are proportional to the concentration of un-dissolved particles.

3.5.2 Sensor assembly

The sensor consists of a sensor head and a sensor body. The wetted sensor head is mounted
with a Tuchenhagen-Varivent
pipe and will be passed by the process media. The measurement electronics is build in the
sensor body.
